QUOTE

Bostjan Nachbar, Nets (last season 14.59; projected 12.32)
This is a bit of a risky call since he shot the lights out in the preseason (he was New Jersey's leading scorer and pumped in nearly 20 a game), but the numbers say that Boki will have a tough time keeping up his performance level of a season ago. He'd never shot above 39.2 percent in a season until 2006-07, when he hit 45.7 percent, and he more than doubled his PER from a season earlier. He was only 26, so it's possible he just got better; perhaps more likely, however, is that he was playing over his head.

QUOTE

Mikki Moore, Kings (last season 14.81; projected 10.85)
Moore entered last season as a 50.6 percent career shooter. Last season, at age 31, he made 60.9 percent and led the league in shooting percentage on long 2-pointers at a ridiculous 58.4 percent -- nearly doubling what he shot from that range the previous two seasons. Obviously, this was a fluke with a capital PH, but the Kings were gullible enough to give him three years and $18 million as a reward. Other than the two players above, I'd be hard-pressed to come up with a more likely bet to decline this season.

In Boki's case Hollinfuqer might be correct, but not for the reasons he gave, it will be because Ant's eating his minutes, and the Nets will stress defense. I personally think that Hollinger is trying to extort money from the Nets franchise by always slamming us.

I don't fully trust this guy. As previously noted, he can be correct, but not for the reason he stated. This guy is obviously just making head-turning columns, he doesn't care if he'll be right or not eventually. He'll flood you with stats that you can't verify, or skew them to justify his pre-meditated analysis.

Yo Petey, how you doin' ? :-)

And I forgot to mention, these guys thrived in Jersey. He never credited the Nets for this.

I think everyone (expcept for the Kings apparently) expected Moore to have some drop off.

Boki will still get his. Maybe not as much as last year (due to Wright, a different rotation, new players, etc.), but I still think he can provide solid minutes for the team.

Right now, Antoine Wright's offense is better than Boki's defense. But Boki will be a big contributor, especially once some of the other players get a little nicked up.

Didn't Hollinger give us heat for not re-signing Moore over the summer? This guy is a joke.

I find it hilarious that he inflates his articles with needless statistics to explain the obvious. Boki will be a bit of a letdown because the Nets are healthy and he's never been a good enough defender. Moore, because he got to play with Kidd last season. That took me two sentences.

It's real hard to make a living as a stats columnist 5 games into the season. Small samples and all that.

Oh John Hollinger - you seem like such a smart guy, and then you go and pull dumb shit like this.

Boki will be fine, he's just a bit overpumped to start the season. Once he relaxes, he'll be nailing 3s left and right.

And by-the-by, Hollinger's main evaluation tool, PER, is minutes-played independent. So even if Twan does cut into Boki's time on the floor, it shouldn't really effect either one's PER.

IF I'm the boss of ESPN, I would fire Hollinger right away.

How does he comment now while the Nets have a 4-1 start?
