I know this kind of discussion is really premature, especially concerning a rookie, but do you guys think we could plug in Big Baby as the starting center? He seems to complement KG really well, and both of them really go after rebounds. Perkins is more suited to the bench IMO. What do you guys think?

I don't think so, he's too short to even play PF.

He has lot of energy though, and is trying to prove all the teams wrong for passing on him. [IMG]

I think his strength and speed(for someone weighing 280+) help make up for the height issues, and 6'8" isnt too small for the PF spot(imo, especially after what he showed tonight). The question should be, if Davis started, would you rather have KG at the center spot or his more natural position: PF?

He may not have the height, but he definitely has the width.

I really didn't expect anything from him though. During the preseason i referred to him as fatass... i'm a dick

Garnett at the 4 and Davis at the 5 sounds good to me. KG's killing every opposing PF so far. =P

You guys can't be serious about starting Big Baby over Kendrick Perkins, especially this early in his career.

He's great at defense, rebounds and blocking as far as I know. Along with KG of course.

Ok, what has Perkins done so far that Glen Davis hasn't? [positive things]

    Exactly.

I think Davis complements KG a lot better than Perk b/c he can create his own oppurtunies.

You can't blow one game out of proportion, but Perkins has a longer record of not being very good to bank on, so I'm not seeing a really huge downside to trying someone new [IMG]

Perkins has been perfectly consistent when in the lineup, actually. He's never going to be a scorer, but he plays good defense and can rebound very well. Davis or Perkins is not even worthdiscussing.

Oooooooof course it is. I'd put Perkins in the 'could be better' defensive category... he's slower than hell and bites on every ball fake.

I think Davis is much better on the bench for all the reasons listed above. I think we're better off with Perkins' rebounding and toughness starting and Davis' offensive skills on the bench. Bench scoring is an issue for us and we can't be throwing bench scorers into the starting five if we don't have to. Perk's best offensive skill is moving into the open space in the paint for Pierce or KG to rifle one in to him for a dunk. Lets allow him to keep doing that and let Davis use his skills off the bench.
