He sat for a lot of the blowout against Toronto, but in the other five games he is averaging 37:47.

It certainly makes things easy when he's out on the court, but in this case the easy way is hurting the team's chances of reaching their goal of winning a championship.

It should be priority number one for the coaching staff to install a plan where they reduce Kidd's minutes and continue to win games.

Unfortunately, Vince Carter's ankle and Marcus Williams' absence could mean that Kidd has to play even more minutes.

The combination of Armstrong and Carter could have kept Kidd's minutes down early so it wouldn't have been a problem playing him more for a short stretch, but now it's too late.

I think we're still pretty early in the season to give up on keeping Kidd fresh. We're not that far from getting Marcus back, and then we're looking at ~70 games to distribute minutes between three guys. I wouldn't say that Vince's injury will have a huge impact, I don't recall him getting that many minutes at PG over the last 6 games.

All the games have been very competitive; the nets haven't had enough of a cushion to sit Kidd for a five-minute stretch or two. Armstrong hasn't been very good. Just anecdotally he seems to be committing a lot of turnovers, and in fact, looking a t the stats, he has nearly as many turnovers as assists (9 to 8). He's also committing more fouls than assists (although obviously some of the fouls also count as turnovers). Yesterday was probably his best performance--no turnovers--but in 18 minutes, he still managed just one steal and zero assists. For all the people that have gotten on Marcus' case, I'm really surprised that Armstrong has gotten a free pass so far.

The second unit has had trouble getting in sync, and I wonder how much of that blame can be placed on Armstrong.

I can't wait for Marcus to come back.

I like what Darell has done because he is a 3rd string backup and he is playing a lot of minutes, at his age that hurts his production as the games pile up. Once Marcus comes back Frank will have the option of putting in scoring or defense as the situation arises. Plus I can't wait for Marcus to play with Sean and Boone at the same time.

Still waiting for Marcus. If we have a nice playoff position come Febuary, his minutes will decrease especally if Marcus has improved as so many of us think.

Look, I wonder why this is always such an issue. Kidd plays a lot of minutes because, like every starter, they always want to!

Despite resolutions every year by the Coaching staff to reduce his minutes, they'll actually go up as he gets older. That's because he's clinging to his position as a starter even more.

In fact, to generate the kind ofstats that Kidd does, he has to play more and more minutes every year. Fortunately, he can handle it. It may, in fact, be better for his olderbody to keep it in better shape. You know what happenswhen you let an older person sit in a rocking chair too long? They go soft!

Darrell brings it defensively and with leadership. Unfortunately, he is currently sucking on the offensive end.

We can't say that the effort isn't there, tho...maybe we should just give him some leeway until he learns the offense, and how to play with this team..?

Once he gets used to the team, he'll get more minutes, Kidd will get less, and Marcus will be back before we know it. And this team should be fine.

Actually its weird, in that 4th quarter against the Celtics I'd say Armstrong was on fire. I don't see him lighting it up, but I've been pretty impressed with his shooting abilty (on the rare occaision that he decided to shoot) so far this season.

Franks got to stick to his a skeleton of how to play Kidd. Get players into their roles. Sure you give Kidd more minutes now, but by December with Williams back in full force. Frank has got to stick to a plan. I'd liek to see Kidd sit with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter, come back with 7 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. That's 16 minutes in the first half. 2nd half, sit him with 4 minutes left in the 3rd into the 4th quarter, then buy as much time as possible in to the 4th. Some games he may come in at the 11 minute mark, others the 8 minute mark.

I hate the fact that Frank always seems to have a predetermined plan, and is unable to make changes on the fly. For instance, one of my pet peeves is that he continues to use the same starting lineup irrespective of who the opposition is, like it would be some terrible insult if he shifts guys around on a game-by-game basis. Other people have noted that, against certain opponents, Collins probably should be starting, and likewise, I could see other combinations. Starting Krstic against the Celtics just had disaster written all over it. Against other teams, why not just start a small lineup?

I thinik we got to lock Frank up in a room with Don Nelson, this guy throws the book out the door, he could careless what his players think of him. Has called out Dunleavy for being dumb, ain't afraid of changing up his lineup. Frank's got to learn somethings from this guy.
