Back when everyone was talking about Kobe, I remember thinking I hoped a deal got done one way or another sooner rather than later. That way things didn't drag out.</p> Looking at the fallout though, it's very much looking like Pax opened Pandora's Box by getting seriously into the trade talk. The right decision was to commit and do it or don't get involved at all. By getting serious about it but not getting it done and combined with not getting much done with extensions, it's looking more and more like the Bulls might have broken their jib.</p> <ul>[*]Our two best players from last year, and I really do like them, both look like they're playing for their contracts [*]Kirk looks like he's been left at the altar. [*]Wallace... i don't know if he's mad or just broken down or both[/list] How many questions about "Jib" were fielded over the last few years? Lots, and even if nobody defined it, we all know good and well that there was something real to the culture. Whether it was real or not, it's a pretty big shock to the system to have your boss, after several years of saying "we like what we're building and we want you guys long term" to suddenly give you lower than market contract offers and try to trade you away.</p> In short, I think that was some serious jib killing, and I think it's going to be very difficult to get it back. Especially with Ben and Lou, who just got a big "it's all about business" lesson, it's going to be a real issue, I think, getting their heads right.</p>
The jib is rotten.<o></o></p> The highly paid "superstar" is on the bench. Oh Captain my Captain is under performing. The rookies and raw Tyrus like players are rookies and raw Tyrus like players.<o></o></p> MikeDC is right on this one. This team was able to perform well because it was an anomaly in the NBA. A true, hard working team that was able to win games in the heart of the NBA season based on hard work and team play.<o></o></p> The Bulls didn't win on talent. Once the playoffs started, the other team would turn it one and we'd be toast. The Heat win last year was great, but its clear to anyone but a blind man that SHAQ was close to done and DWade was a shell of his usual self. Great, exciting time for Bulls fans. But don't make long term decisions based on that data point, b/c it was what it was.<o></o></p> Now we see what happens what the team has to get by on talent, b/c the incentives have changed. Hinrich has his contract and isn't an impressionable young player anymore trying to get a big deal. Deng and Gordon see what the org is really all about with their contracts. They are starting to look out for themselves. Wallace? Who knows that he's thinking. Regardless of what he does, a massive sum of money is going to be dropped into his account every couple of weeks. <o></o></p> This team is looking very ordinary to bad now that its becoming more like a normal NBA team versus the anomaly its been for the last couple of seasons.<o></o></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o></o></p> </p> </p> </p>
