Arsenal travel to the Madejski Stadium on Monday to face Reading as they look to return to winning ways after three consecutive draws. The hosts are having a mixed season, drawing at Old Trafford but losing at Sunderland. The last time the Gunners made the trip to Berkshire they returned with all three points after a stunning 4-0 dismantling of the Royals. Something similar would be just the lift Arsenal need before the international break. This season Arsenal.com will be identifying the key battles for each Premier League game and bringing you all the statistics and information a fan could need. Swot up now and come Sunday you'll be impressing anyone who'll listen with your new-found knowledge.
Kevin DoylevKolo Toure Arsenal’s Ivorian central defender has gone from strength to strength since his arrival at the Club from Asec Mimosas in 2002. A virtual ever-present for the Gunners this season, Toure is enjoying a stunning campaign. Despite playing alongside three different players at the heart of the defence, he has helped the team concede just nine times in 19 outings. He is a fine tackler, making 11 challenges this season, rarely losing out, and reads the game brilliantly. He has a staggering 22 clearances and has blocked goal-bound shots five times. What has endeared him most to the Arsenal faithful is his willingness to get forward — he has embarked on six dribbles with 66 per cent success, and hit the target four times, scoring once. Trying to keep him on the back foot will be tough-tackling Republic of Ireland international Kevin Doyle. The 24-year-old was ravaged by injury in Reading’s debut Premier League campaign but has got off to a solid start this time around. He has scored four times with one assist, and made the goalkeeper work 13 times. The former Cork City man rarely shirks a challenge, making nine tackles this term.

Michael DuberryvEmmanuel Adebayor Six goals before the end of September fired Emmanuel Adebayor to the top of the goalscoring charts. Although the goals have dried up, his influence on the team is as great as ever. The Togo international’s power, pace and willingness to hassle and harry defenders throughout the 90 minutes often forces errors. He also has one assist to go with his impressive goals tally. A strong attribute is his ability to hit the target and he has done on 14 occasions, going close with 13 other efforts. But he has no qualms running at defenders either — the 23-year-old has done that six times. As Adebayor looks to end his goal drought, Cup Winners Cup winner Michael Duberry will be doing all he can to frustrate the striker for a little while longer. Formerly of Chelsea and Leeds, Duberry is rated as doubtful for the clash, but as the most experienced defender in the Royals’ ranks, Steve Coppell will hope to have him available. He has made 15 crucial clearances this season and is always strong in the tackle — however he has lost 11 challenges this season. Good with the ball on the floor, the Englishman has made 36 successful passes and even worked the goalkeeper once.

Brynjar Gunnarsson vCesc Fabregas The superlatives have quite simply run out for Cesc Fabregas this season. His phenomenal form shows no sign of slowing either after crucial equalisers in the draws with Manchester United and Liverpool. He has scored six goals in the league and created six more, and has hit the target an incredible 17 times. The 20-year-old seemingly always has time on the ball and has made 113 passes, well over half of which have found their target. The dimensions added to his game in recent months have won him much acclaim — he has made over 20 tackles with a 61 per cent success rate. Reading’s Icelandic star Brynjar Gunnarsson is the man charged with stopping Fabregas on Monday. The 32-year-old has featured in all of Reading’s games this season, and is comfortable anywhere from midfield to defence. His physical presence is a huge threat, and the former Stoke man has made 16 important tackles this term. His willingness to carry the ball may leave him susceptible to getting caught out of position, but with 92 passes to his name he clearly has many strings to his bow.
