I've seen enough, and the logic is really simple. There are several guys who do or have done about the same thing as Gordon. Barbosa is the guy we saw tonight. He signed for about $20M less than Gordon turned down. Yet, Gordon, because he's a starter (who's certainly needed as a starter- don't get me wrong) on what's generally been a good team, won't be had for that. So the Bulls either need to trade him or they'll be forced to overpay or lose him for nothing.</p> It ain't fair, but that's the dynamics of the NBA. The situation you're in dictactes a lot. And I think it dictates a bit more for Gordon than he's worth if you can envision him equivalently replaced by a guy making a huge amount less (and not on a rookie deal). The clock is ticking.</p>
I'll be bookmarking this thread.</p> Barbosa averaged 13, 3 and 3 when he signed that deal, took a huge leap forward, and plays in a very offense-friendly system.</p> <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"> <tbody> <tr height="18" align="right" class="ysptblthbody1"> <td align="left" class="yspdetailttl">Year</td> <td align="left" class="yspdetailttl">Team</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">G</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Min</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">M</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">A</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Pct</td> <td></td> <td class="yspdetailttl">M</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">A</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Pct</td> <td></td> <td class="yspdetailttl">M</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">A</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Pct</td> <td></td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Off</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Def</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Tot</td> <td></td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Ast</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">TO</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Stl</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">Blk</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">PF</td> <td class="yspdetailttl">PPG</td> <td></td> </tr> <tr height="16" align="right" class="ysprow1"> <td align="left" class="yspscores">2005-06</td> <td align="left" class="yspscores">PHO</td> <td class="yspscores">57</td> <td class="yspscores">27:53</td> <td class="yspscores">4.8</td> <td class="yspscores">10.0</td> <td class="yspscores">48.2</td> <td></td> <td class="yspscores">1.5</td> <td class="yspscores">3.4</td> <td class="yspscores">44.4</td> <td></td> <td class="yspscores">2.0</td> <td class="yspscores">2.6</td> <td class="yspscores">75.5</td> <td></td> <td class="yspscores">0.5</td> <td class="yspscores">2.1</td> <td class="yspscores">2.6</td> <td></td> <td class="yspscores">2.8</td> <td class="yspscores">1.6</td> <td class="yspscores">0.8</td> <td class="yspscores">0.1</td> <td class="yspscores">2.5</td> <td class="yspscores">13.1</td> <td></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </p> </p> If Gordon regresses or doesn't improve on last year's season, I think he'll accept something very close to 50 million.</p> </p>
Heh... I new it's be contraversial, but a bookmarking? </p> Seriously though, I know it's not a perfect comparison, but I just can't see Ben still being here when next season rolls around. Everyone knows this team needs a change and I just can't see how we accomplish that and keep him.</p>
I don't see any possibility where Gordon isn't a Bull next season, unless we get Kobe. Everyone in the NBA knows Gordon is the Bulls best player. Everyone on the Bulls knows that Gordon is the best player. Skiles knows that Gordon is the best player. Everyone and their grandma knows that Gordon is their best player.</p> Gordon's not going to agree to a sign and trade, and the Bulls won't just let him walk for nothing. It'll be a sign or he's gone situation, not a Curry/Crawford situation where no suitors except the Knicks are stepping up.</p> Without Gordon, the Bulls would crumble, and everyone knows that on the team, the coaching staff, and nba fandom. If Paxson can't see that, then he really shouldn't be our GM (then again, he did pass on Aldridge/Brewer/Chandler).</p>
Yeah, the Bulls as currently constructed need him, but I suspect they'll trade him for another guy that can score a lot, or that they'll do something else to get a guy like that when they trade him.</p>

Gordon needs to get consistent, plain and simple. He needs to demand the ball and shoot and create even more then he already does. I think the bulls would be better off without Hinrich, I love the guy but its painful to watch him lately.</p> </p>

BG7, you confuse what "bestplayer" actually is. Right now, our best player is Noc. Yes, Andres Nocioni, look at how he's playing vs the rest of our core guys. Noc is hitting shots, taking charges, and playing hard D and he deserves this title. Hinrich and Deng both have potential to regain the title, but they have to play like they know what a basketball going inside the hoop looks like; their D is good (Deng is doing well grabbing boards) and Hinrich is a tough defender, period. When it comes to greatest offensive threat, Ben Gordon has the greatest potential in that field because when he is hot he lights everyone up: the Pistons game 4 last year (I believe) is a great example of that. Other than that, Ben is a below average passer for his position, his defense is lacking, and he is too inconsistent. The Bulls would not crumble if we lost Ben Gordon because we've won games when Ben was having one of his signature inconsistent, finally made a shot nights.</p> As for Ben going to another team, I don't want him to because he has great potential. But at the same time, he does not deserve 50 million dollars.</p>
I agree Nocioni has been the best player for the Bulls. He's playing to win and playing hard on both ends of the court. He caught a few bad breaks last night with layups rolling out of the rim and was looking for some help from the officials, but he was solid last night for Chicago.</p> I think the player who's disrupted everything is Ben Wallace. He's not playing with that high motor anymore. He was getting outworked on the glass by Shawn Marion and was giving second and third efforts to tip the ball and then secure it. There was one play when the ball was lose and Big Ben just gave up on it and watched it go out of bounds. The real Ben Wallace would have dived after the ball and given his team another possession.</p> </p>
I can see BG7 dancing around in his room with Ben Gordon's jock strap covering his face, while listening to Jock Jams.</p>
