The followup examination of the MRI results on Tracy McGrady's right elbow revealed no tendon or ligament damage. He is suffering from a sprain and nerve irritation and could be out of the lineup for roughly a week. The treatment for McGrady's injury is focused on getting the swelling down and getting rid of the tingling sensation in his fingertips. He is on medication for the pain but is doing no specific rehab. The biggest factor in his return will be keeping the soreness and swelling in check around the affected area.

"As soon as it responds and he has good feeling back and has return of strength in the hand and full movement on the elbow, he should be OK to go," said Dr. Tom Clanton, the Rockets' team physician. -- Houston Chronicle

    Glad that he's ok.

Without him the Rockets will go nowhere.

This might sound odd, but I would rather make sure T-Mac fully recovers before we let him play again as opposed to playing him when he is "okay". If that takes an extra week or two - fine by me.

Nagging injuries are the worst and I would rather us fix the problem then let it become a bigger one later on this season.

I agree Hunter, the season is long, he is needed much more by the end of the season and the playoffs.

It didn't seem like much of anything when he hurt himself in the game. He probably had a sprain or a minor tweak, but it didn't look serious and TMac didn't look like he was in a lot of pain at the time. With his injury history I would definitely not rush him back either. The Rockets might actually benefit from him being out so they can figure out their guard rotations by having the extra minutes available for other guys.

Let's see who makes the most of their opportunity.

As much as the Rockets need the three-day gap between games to get back on the practice court for the first time in nine days, the schedule should go a long way toward Tracy McGrady getting back from his sprained right elbow in time to play Wednesday against Dallas.

"The doctor didn't feel comfortable giving him the OK (to play Saturday)," coach Rick Adelman said. "The way he explained it to us, it made a lot more sense with this three-day break to give him that break. Wednesday, there's going to be a much better feeling about where he is.

"We just didn't want to put him out there where if something happened, you lose him for an extended period of time. And trust me, he really wanted to play. And trust me, I really wanted him to play. But you've got to look at the long term." -- Houston Chronicle
