<h3>Bonds, Giants hope to avoid sweep vs. rival Dodgers</h3>

SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) - Barry Bonds and the San FranciscoGiants hope to avoid a three-game sweep against the Los AngelesDodgers when the clubs face off in the series finale Sundayafternoon.


Saturday was a forgettable afternoon for Bonds, who remained at751 home runs, four shy of Hank Aaron's all-time record. Theseven-time National League MVP went 0-for-5, hitting into adouble play, striking out twice and grounding out weakly tosecond twice.


But in that contest, Bonds did draw a ninth-inning walk andscore the tying run to cap a five-run late-inning comeback. ButRafael Furcal snapped a 12th-inning tie with a sacrifice fly asthe Dodgers held off the Giants, 8-7.


San Francisco will look to get back on track behind Noah Lowry(9-6, 3.35 ERA), who yielded one run and four hits in sixinnings in a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on July 6.

The lefthander has won four of his last six starts, includingthree in a row.


He will be opposed by Brett Tomko (1-7, 6.18), who lost his spotin the rotation but will be forced to start with Randy Wolfstill on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

The righthander has been scored on in seven of his last ninerelief appearances.


Los Angeles is undefeated at AT&T Park this season and has won10 straight overall in San Francisco.
