TORONTO (Ticker) - The Golden State Warriors may be findingtheir stride.

Stephen Jackson scored 17 points in his season debut and AndrisBiedrins had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Golden State
Warriors to a 106-100 victory over the Toronto Raptors on
Sunday.

After an 0-6 start, Golden State has won two straight, includingnotching its first road victory of the season. The Warriors'defense - which had allowed 118 points per game during the skid, has improved in that area since, yielding 103 points in theirtwo wins.

"That was a huge effort on our behalf considering that wehaven't been able to close out fourth quarters very well,"Warriors guard Baron Davis said. "But these last two games,we've been playing phenomenal defense in the fourth quarter."

Jackson was playing in his first game for the season afterserving a league-imposed, seven-game suspension.

"Being back with my team and getting the win was great," Jacksonsaid.

All five starters for the Warriors scored in double figures andthe team enjoyed a decisive 26-12 edge in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors got off to a fast start with a 9-0 run on threeconsecutive 3-point shots - including two by guard KelennaAzubuike - to take their biggest lead at 19-8 at 6:59 of thefirst quarter.

"I see myself as a shooter and try to take good shots," Azubuikesaid. "Baron created all of them for me and I was able toknock them down."

The Raptors answered with a 10-0 run, capped by a thunderousdunk by rookie Jamario Moon at 3:13 of the second quarter totake the lead at 49-48. T.J. Ford scored 21 points in the firsthalf to pace the Raptors as they led 61-58 at the break.

Ford continued to lead the Raptors in the third quarter withconsecutive jumpers to give Toronto an 88-80 lead with twoseconds left in the quarter.

Davis took control for the Warriors in the fourth quarter, scoring nine points as part of a 21-6 run. Davis capped with a3-pointer by Azubuike at 2:16 and a jumper by Davis at 1:41 tolift Golden State's lead to 103-95.

"We were able to bear down at the end of the game to get somestops and hit some shots," Davis said. "I was struggling allgame to find my rhythm but I just pushed through it and I wasable to hit a couple of shots in a row. This win is huge as wetry to climb back to .500. Having Stephen Jackson back bringsenergy and leadership that we were missing."

"We were able to jump on Baron's back and knock down some openshots and come away with a win," Jackson said. "But we stillhave a lot of work to do and we can't dwell on this win becausewe have a long road trip ahead."

Ford posted a 29-point effort for the Raptors, who fell to 2-4at home.

Re: NBA: GOLDEN STATE (1-6) at TORONTO (5-4)

I think Sportsticker would be better served if they just did a game preview, a halftime score, and then a final box score and game recap... this is like spam or back to back to back to back posting which was totally against the rules on JBB. It's cool how we can use this as a game thread maker, but it just fires out posts to the point where nobody can post feedback without it being bumped away futher in the topic.

    Does anyone agree with this?

For the most part, the posts are at least 6 minutes apart. Seems like plenty of time for people to get in lots of posts between.

The recaps get reposted additional times with post game quotes added. The box scores I think include corrections.

I agree, I mean, if you want an update and have web access, then just go to live updates at another website.

I don't like it either, it's pretty annoying. I say we just do it old school and create our own game threads for discussions. If the score-recap spambot wants to do its thing in another thread, fine. That ticker thread from the other night included about 20 of the same (or maybe slightly different?) recap. Not something I find fun to scroll through.

But Denny, we're not even getting posts in between the 6 minute intervals that Sportsticker burps out information. Can we at least get that info from another area on the page separate from the game thread area? I totally wouldn't mind a side panel or top panel that is separate from the messaging area.

Can we recommend to put Sportsticker in a place that is less intrusive to the human interaction part? I thought the whole reason for making an automated game thread is so that fans will have a place to discuss what's going on in the game, rather than creating new posts just to read aloud updated stat lines to us. Maybe there's a way to just update the original post?

Also, I couldn't find that one thread where Sportsticker took over our beloved Shapecity and turned him into a chat bot! I'm assuming its deleted or I'm just blind at the moment. Oh man. Had me fooled that I was talking to Shape. Kinda creepy.
