The Bulls bench is pathetic. The team has shed its better bench players over the past few seasons, and it really shows.

Andrew Bynum had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Jordan Farmaralso scored 14 for Los Angeles, who extended their winningstreak to three games.

"We gave (Farmar) some starting minutes at the end of the yearlast year because we saw he could drive the ball down the floor, speed up the offense," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "A lotof what I have changed in the offense this year has been for hisgame. It really benefits the style of game he plays and theway he can play."

Bynum got more work after Kwame Brown went down hard with 8:28left in the first quarter, getting hit in the leg by Chicago'sBen Wallace. Brown was carried off the court by teammates andX-rays were negative, but he did sprain both his left ankle andleft knee and did not return.

"We have a deep team. People didn't realize that last yearbecause of all the injuries," Lakers center Chris Mihm said. "Wehave a lot of talent on this team and a lot of different guysthat can come in and provide that lift for us on any givennight. That's exciting, I hope we can stay healthy this year."

In the second half, Los Angeles went on an aggressive 13-2 runto open the third quarter to build a 58-48 lead. Bryant nettedseven points in the stretch.

"Our guys are really jelling," said Bryant, who added fiveboards and three steals. "It just comes from working hard atpractice and they're playing really well."

The Lakers added to their cushion in the fourth, extending thebulge to 79-60 when Farmar fed Mihm for a two-handed jam at the10:56 mark and never relinquished the lead.

Los Angeles was sloppy in the first half, turning the ball over14 times that gave the Bulls hold a 46-45 edge at intermission.Chicago's Ben Gordon poured in 14 of his 20 points in the firsthalf.

"I felt like we ran out of gas," Gordon said. "We came out andplayed well in the first half. Second half we just didn't havethat same energy and intensity. I think that was pretty muchthe key to the game."

Andres Nocioni scored 14 points for the Bulls, who shot 34percent (31-of-81) from the floor and fell to 2-7 on the season.

"We bring it in stretches and other times we look disinterestedout there," Chicago coach Scott Skiles said. "We're not goodenough to do that. We are not able to sustain it right now forany long period of time."

We have to get rid of this post-padding "Sportsticker" character. [IMG]

What's up with Hinrich coming out and having a three turnover 3rd quarter? Could he be playing with any less poise?

Not that the rest of the team appeared to have a lot. Who was "guarding" Derek Fisher and All-Pro Jordan Farmar during the second half? Woeful.

Obviously Kobe just came out in the second half and abused everyone we put on him, but they were pretty much abused by everyone else on the Lakers too. After watching the way they played against the Suns and Clippers, to see them play like complete pansies again was very concerning.

I'm waiting for the peasants to wake up and storm the United Center with torches and pitchforks.

I think the Lakers' stifling defense had as much if not more to do with the Bulls struggles than just an off-night on the Bulls' part.
