NFL: TENNESSEE (6-3) at DENVER (4-5)
Broncos brace for visit from Titans
Tennessee (6-3) at Denver (4-5) Monday 8:30 pm EST DENVER (Ticker) -- Coming off a season-saving victory, the DenverBroncos get a welcome respite in their schedule. In the midst of a stretch in which they play six of eight gameson the road, the Broncos host the Tennessee Titans on Mondaynight. Denver stopped a major slide by rallying from a two-pointhalftime deficit for a 27-11 road victory over the Kansas CityChiefs last weekend. The Broncos had lost two straight and five of six prior to thevictory, and with a grueling second-half schedule awaiting them, the comeback kept their postseason hopes afloat. A much-maligned defense which was the league's worst against therun, Denver limited Kansas City to 67 rushing yards. Ofcourse, the Broncos were helped by the fact that All-Pro runningback Larry Johnson missed the game with a sprained foot. Denver's run defense gets another test against the Titans, whorank fourth in the NFL with 139.8 rushing yards a contest. Tennessee had a three-game winning streak snapped in last week's28-13 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. One of the key factors in the loss was the Titans' inability toget their vaunted running game untracked. LenDale White waslimited to 12 yards on eight carries, ending a string of threestraight 100-yard efforts. Quarterback Vince Young led Tennessee with 52 yards rushing butcontinued to struggle in the passing game. He finished 24-of-41for a career-high 257 yards, but he threw two interceptions, giving him 10 for the season as opposed to just four TD passes. The Broncos got a boost from quarterback Jay Cutler, who wasthought to have suffered a possible season-ending knee injurythe previous week in a 44-7 loss to the Detroit Lions. It turned out to be just a bruise for Cutler, who threw for 192yards and a touchdown. Backup running back Selvin Young also provided a spark, rushingfor 109 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured TravisHenry. Henry starred for the Titans last season, rushing for 1,211yards and seven TDs before signing with Denver in the offseason.
