I didn't watch the game last night, but based on his 2 rebounds and on Deron's line, doesn't look like he gave much effort.

Didn't play at all in the 4th quarter. I forget when he went out in the third. Helps explain the lower stats.

What I noticed was that almost the whole team left the floor before the game ended. There were like 4 seconds left and a foul was called. Kidd, Jefferson, and a bunch of other players left for the locker room. Frank and the coaching staff was still seated. And other than the 5 players on the floor, the only players to stay on the bench were, IIRC, Krstic, Collins, and Wright. Because of the foul situation, quite a lot of time elapsed where almost the whole Nets bench was empty. Not a good sign for team unity.

I don't get that statement. We were 4 - 1 with Vince in the lineup...

The 4-1 record was deceiving. We could have easily lost those games.

Just like we could have easily won any of the games in this losing streak(sans Boston) with Vince playing, healthy?

Would really like to see somebody step up and become an emotional leader on the floor.

Sean is the closest thing we got.

I guess maybe Boki. I think he needs some fire to get himself going. I wish Boki was getto, tats and a grill.

But alas, Boki has Dido on the Ipod.

I can't believe what some of you guys are saying about Kidd... He made the Nets, he is the Nets! How quickly you guys forget. No leadership skills whatsoever?! When he doesn't talk, he's not a leader, when he does, you guys tell him to shut up... The guy passed up the opportunity to play alongside Duncan, where he could have won his ring. He chose to be a Net! Without Kidd, the Nets are nothing. You guys think we have a great team?! Take a hard look people. Carter? Please! The guy is nothing more than a highlight reel. Jefferson? The guy will always be a secondary player. Krstic, Collins, Magloire, Williams, Wright? Sean Williams, a potentially good player. Key word? POTENTIAL!
Well at least if you take Kidd out of the equation, the Nets will be a sure bet for a lottery pick. Because that's what the New Jersey Nets are if Jason Kidd leaves! And that's the truth! Kidd has worked his butt off and has left everything on the floor for the Nets night in and night out. Kidd wanted to win with the Nets but Thorn has failed to deliver his end. It's time he did something! Give Kidd the support he needs. If not work out a deal to trade Kidd to a contender. Give Kidd the respect he deserves!

You're forgetting that with Carter, we were 4-1, playing pretty good basketball, and everyone was playing alot better.

Meanwhile, without Carter, we just suck.

    You're severely underrating Carter.

Let's not kid ourselves with that. Even with Carter, we still would have been romped!

Oh yeah, Of course. I fucking love Carter. I wanna marry the dude now that he's divorced. I'm gonna have a fucking love child with him.

Are you serious? We're talking about the same guy that pretty much saved our 05-06 season.

How bout you back my "overrating of Carter" with some facts? I'll throw some easy ones at you: 4-1, RJ playing good ball, Wright playing good ball; all with Carter.

0-5 without Carter, and everyone plays like shit. Coincidence, right?

He should be unhappy with his own play. I don't give a flying fart about his "19 rebounds" in one game. About 10 of them came off of his own bricked shots (he always hustles hardest when he's missed a shot or turned the ball over). He's playing hard right now, but he's not playing particularly intelligently. He's turning the ball over a lot, and he simply does not have the offensive tool set to lead a team without a go-to scorer and playmaker like Vince, at least when the team is not getting enough stops to score in transition. He can't break anyone down off the dribble. He can't reliably finish if he manages to get in the lane off a pick and roll. He is exposed defensively by everyone from Chris Paul to TJ Ford/Jose Calderon to (last season) Jarret Jack and Luke Ridnour. And gawd knows he can't shoot. Instead of pointing his finger at everyone else, he should spend a little time looking in the mirror. Way to "lead", Jason.

And anyone who still believes Vince Carter isn't the MVP of this team is delusional. Seeing them without him for this long a stretch gives (even) me new appreciation for just how offensively inept they are without him. Bring on the "isos". I'd rather watch Vince go one on five and "chuck" from 33 feet any day than watch this miserable offense stumble and sputter toward a whopping 60-70 point output.

I guess Kidd must have read your post. Not only did he grab the rebound that iced the game for the Nets, he also played outstanding defense on Roy. He also finished well whenever he took it to the basket.

Amazing what VC's presence can do for his teammates.
