No, I have to admit, Collins played well yesterday. His defense on Boozer was sure as hell better then the rest of our big mens attempts

Hey Jizzy, remember that argument made by some people that Collins' plus-minus is good only because he plays with the starters? Yesterday Magloire was MINUS 21 in FOURTEEN MINUTES. Collins was plus-one in ten minutes.

Remember my thought--expressed over and over--that Collins and Sean in the frontcourt with the starters would be a good combination? yesterday, the Kidd-RJ-Boki/Wright-Sean-Collins combowere +3 in roughly five and a half minutes.

Not picking on you, just using your post to segue.

Watching yesterday, I realized how much of an idiot he is on offense. And at times, he can get lazy on defense. But he's got strength in rebounding, and once in a while he can block a shot or two.

Also, I'm still waiting till January (or at least midseason) until I make my judgements about Magloire.

On another note, Malik Allen sucks. He sucks on offense. He doesn't play defense. There is no reason to let a person get WIDE OPEN for a layup. WIDE OPEN. RIGHT UNDER THE FUCKING BASKET. There is nothing I hate more than seeing Malik Allen on the court, really.

I really didn't think there was someone who could produce worse stats than Collins. And I am corrected. (not only that, Malik contributes nothing to a win).

The Nets won't go anywhere until Nenad is full healthy, but Nenad still needs long time to recover. He can't make the shot, and he can't rebound now.

The more I think about it, the more I like your idea of Krstic coming off the bench. It seems like guards are becoming more and more welcome to the idea of starring in a sixth man role, but I can't think of any power forwards or centers who are talented enough to start, but end up coming off the bench.

So Dumpy, your Collins-Sean Theory ™ seems to hold water, but you always seem to present it under the caveat that "Collins will be playing 15-20 minutes a night anyway." Considering the play of Magloire and Allen, and the health of Krstic, isn't Collins, at worst, our 3rd best big man anyway? That caveat seems less and less important with each successive impotant game Mags puts up...

It was MY idea. I originally made a thread about Sean starting and Krstic off the bench

not that it matters, but i brought it up before the start of the season, but without mentioning Sean as the other starter--I had opined that Krstic and Collins aren't a good match together. I may have said something like Collins/Boone or, eventually, Collins/Sean would work better.

I'm just afraid that putting Collins on the court with a collection of second-tier offensive players would really neutralize them and hamper their offense. I just see Collins as being most effective with Kidd, Carter/Wright, RJ, and Sean . . . when one or more of the big three get subbed out, then you need another offensive threat more than you need Collins' supporting skills, I think. So, in that sense, I see him as a role player--but that role is playing with the starting unit when whole. You're right, though; the more Magloier and Allen suck, the more likely it'll be that Collins will play 25 minutes a night--but it's not optimal. Hopefully Boone can step it up. He can rebound and score underneath and could compliment someone like Boki when he's playing the 4.
