I thought Mo looked great against the Bulls and in the game against Detroit. I may be missing something, but the Lakers would be losing a key player on the 2nd unit that has been playing so strong lately.

I don't think Sasha is going to benefit from this deal, expect Javaris Crittenton to get more PT.

Hey guys, highlight my post. It was a joke [IMG]

Anyways, I'm so happy right now, you don't even know. We got rid of Brian Cook and Smush Parker, that was a dream to me last season.

Hah you bastard! I couldn't think of any more reasons to hate Brian Cook, until I read your joke!

I hope Kobe embraces Ariza the same way he did with Caron Butler and helps him develop into a stud.

For now he will, but JCritt will outplay him and take over his rotation spot.

MY ONLY CONCERN IS THAT THIS MOVE THROWS OFF THE SECOND UNTI. I GUESS WE WILL SEE IN JUST A BIT WHEN THE GAME STARTS. WE WONT HAVE ARIZA YET BUT NO MO OR COOK.

Capslock is cruise control for cool.

I'm not sure why Orlando is making any moves right now but I think Mo will fit on their team nicely, Cook, not so much. Is there a salary component I'm missing here or something, expiring deal or buyout around the corner?

I like this trade for the Lakers, they get a young and athletic player who'll bring high energy. Good deal for both teams as Orlando also increases their depth.

Ariza's got a buttload of potential, local LA guy, too. Nice trade for the Lakers, methinks.

Getting rid of Cook is great, too bad about Mo though. I hope he thrives in Orlando.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this, but this trade does free up a roster spot which is helpful when trading 1 player for 3 players

Yep. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense otherwise. Everyone seems down on Cook but aside from his poor start this year he's always struck me as a useful player. He's a big body who can shoot. Not bad to have around. Ariza is better than Evans, but they're similar sorts of players.

Maybe the Lakers know Cook's addicted to Tubby Custard?

Cook's attitude has been a problem the last two seasons. The Lakers also get further under the luxury tax with this move and are only $1M over. PJax said he's fine having only 14 players this year so I don't think a bigger trade is taking place. They might add another big man until Kwame recovers, but I don't think we'll see any blockbuster deals taking place. The team is on fire right now.
