the Nets should try Sacto, they can offer Bibby or RonRon.
Bynum and Farmar are the next Nash and Stoudamire and Kidd is too old and too expensive for the Lakers.

QUOTE (Real)

It's disturbing to think of a Nets lineup without Kidd.
It's even more disturbing to think of a Nets lineup with Marcus Williams, Vince Carter, and Richard Jefferson.
I agree that the Nets will never get fair value for Kidd. However, I think some people on this board (Mamba, CelticKing) are forgetting just who Jason Kidd is. Kidd right now going on 35 is still performing at a high level, the same high level he's been playing on the last 10 years. Otherwise the Lakers would not have gone after Kidd last February, Kobe wouldn't have made those comments about Bynum and Kidd over the summer, and the Lakers wouldn't be interested now. To say that Kidd is just "an old guy with no future" is dumb. Now, if we had to trade Kidd I wouldn't mind Andrew Bynum, 1st rounder, and someone else as a possible deal, but we won't win any trade for Jason Kidd.
Besides, I don't see anything getting done anytime soon. Darrell Armstrong is a few weeks away from returning, Marcus Williams is out, and Eddie Gill is backup point gaurd right now. It's probably going to be a month or so before the Nets can do a deal like this and by the time next month rolls around who knows where the Nets are going to be. They could be on the right track again or just as easily they could still be struggling and the rumors could be ignited.

I agree with this post. The timing is right for the Nets to partake in a blockbuster deal involving Jason Kidd. The Nets were 4-1 before Vince was injured, and he wasn't even playing well yet. The East is still wide open even though Boston and Orlando are playing the best right now. I think the Nets can compete with any team in the East when healthy, with their current roster.
Sean Williams looks like he's going to be a steal for them and was worth gambling on during the draft. He could be the big man they've been looking for since KMart left.

QUOTE

An old guy with no future

Either you forgot what kind of player Kidd is, or you just haven't seen him play enough. Old guy? He's one of the top point guard's in the league. Show some respect.
And Thorn isn't in a panicking stage, so I don't think he's even looking to shop Kidd. If the Nets do severely struggle in December, then there might be talks of trade from Kidd or Thorn. Right now, it's not even the case, and there's a chance that it won't be.
If worst comes to worst though, it's possible that Thorn might actually pick-up those awful Laker players. Perhaps out of respect, Thorn will look to dealt Kidd, and give him a chance to play with Kobe. Possibly.

Anyway, that's just some of my thoughts.

I don't really get the Kidd to the Lakers deal. It doesn't make sense for the Lakers...and if the Lakers aren't willing to give up Bynum, then the best the Nets can get back is Odom, and they already have a good enough small forward.
A good fit would be Chicago for Kidd. He'd have plenty of shooters around him with Gordon, Nocioni, and Deng. He'd have bigs that can run the break in Tyrus and Noah.
If a trade with the Bulls was made, I'd imagine it'd be a 3 team trade because the Nets wouldn't want Wallace (and he'd need to be included because of Kidd's enormous contract).
Something like:
Bulls Receive:
Jason Kidd Vladmir Radmanovic Nets Receive:
Kirk Hinrich Kwame Brown
Lakers Receive: Ben Wallace
Don't think the Nets would trade Kidd for Hinrich, but considering that Kidd is going to be on 35, and Hinrich is 26, it could happen just based on age. But until things get bleaker for the Nets (and Bulls) and whoever else, a trade probably won't happen.

Personally, I doubt Kidd gets traded. I don't think his value is really high to be honest, but I'd trade pretty much everyone on the roster with the exception of Kobe and Bynum to get him (obviously I won't want to part ways with half our roster though). I'd also be willing to take on Collin's huge contract depending on who we send out...

Isn't it amazing how greedy us Laker fans are? We're off to a great start, we just made a solid trade, but WE WANT MORE! LOL!
