Hey guys, what did you think of the Raptors win over the Girzz.
I got closer than it had towards the end but I'm happy we're at least 1-1 so far on this road trip, heading into Cleveland.
I was suprised to see Gay on the court as much as he was, he played ok but the 40 minutes shocked me. Memphis could hit many three's tonight while Toronto was over 50 per cent thanks in part to a great night from Jason Kapono and a good third quarter by Bargnani. Bosh almost had a 20-20 night and looks like he's back on track and Moon got over 30 mintues of productive burn.
And Jose, well what can you say about Jose ...

I only caught the last 4 minutes but really liked what i saw. As much as we harp on Sam Mitchell when things are blowing up in our face, we don't give him enough credit when we win. He let's guys wing it out there and play like a team, instead of micro managing like you see certain coaches do.
Bargnani is starting to remind me of Okur without the mean streak.

Bosh was amazing tonight, and Calderon was very very efficient. We should set up a campaign for Calderon starting at the point. Our little push in the last two minutes was just the offense we needed. Cal-der-on, Cal-der-on!!!!!!

Get rebounding game from both Bosh and Bargnani. 6 guys in double figures and great play from Calderon. Bosh was an absolute beast on the glass tonight and just worked his way inside on the Grizz. I really like the play of Kapono and Delfino, who should they can be very key bench players.
My man Moon with another solid game, 12 points 5 boards and 1 blocked shot.

I would have liked to see him come close to actually hitting a shot though.

What I also liked about this game is that the win came from about 3 different players scoring as opposed to TJ trying to take over the game. Kudos once again to Calderon.

Bosh still isn't back to form, don't let the numbers fool you. The guy has a long way to go before he is playing like an All-Star again.
Looks like Mago is getting back on track now, though. Nice to see him quietly get a double-double.

Did Bargs even hit a shot in the first half?

I thought he was playing pretty bad offense until the third quarter.

It was his first points, but good first points. It was a nice strong move that we should see more of from the big guy! I was delighted to see him do that, as it was something positive to take with him to the locker room for half time!

See, this is what I like from the Blog, other players doing things besides TJ having to force himself to win one for us. I hope to see Bargs play more as a starter in the next few games and have Baston come in from the bench to replace him. Hopefully we'll be shooting better against Cleveland, but I see ourselves going on a streak with Calderon from here.

He scored 10 of his 22 points in the final five minutes, was a beast on the boards and sacrificed his body when he needed to (four fouls). Granted, he only played 33 minutes so he was well rested and that alone shows that he is not at his peak yet and his jumper is still missing but I think prime-time Bosh is just around the corner and we'll see him before we're buried in snow.

QUOTE (hollagr8)

Hopefully we'll be shooting better against Cleveland, but I see ourselves going on a streak with Calderon from here.

Hmm, that raises and interesting question. How much credit should Jose get for this win?
The team shot a blistering 52 per cent from three but only made 25 of 71 inside the arc. Does that reflect poorly on Jose because he wasn't able to get the guys easy looks? Is that because he prefers to swing the ball around the perimeter rather than driving into the lane and drawing defenders towards him, opening up looks for his teammates? Or is there not easy buckets because last night defenders drifted off of him because he only hit 30 per cent of his shots? Yes, he got eight assists and only two turnovers in 40 minutes, but five guys scored more than him. None of them had close to his playing time. Did his lack of scoring ability hinder the Raps as reflected in their FG percentage?
I dunno but how good of an offense are you running when your team misses nearly 50 shots inside the arc?

I agree with Bosh not being 100% and is almost there in terms of Raptors all-star calibre. I disagree with the Jose situation. A good point guard for the Raptors should not shoot well, but pass well, much like the way how Kidd plays with the Nets, on the other hand he was not shooting well, but did manage to make shots during key moments when the raptors need it, and that's what he did. I do think he was responsible for letting the rest of the team shoot better from outside the arc. Overall he made the rest of the team make keys shots when it counted and didn't turn over the ball that much. Overall good consistent production.

Bosh is not there quite yet as his jumper is still rusty, there hasnt been a dominante Bosh game this far meaning he'll expose you with his sweet mid-range jumper and then he takes you on in the paint. Anyways he has progressed since the beginning of the season as his scoring and rebounding is picking up, one aspect that he has been great in is his FT shooting he is just money lately. Bargnani had a really bad first half as he wasnt making any of his shots but was able to get a couple other players involved and was rebounding really well. After halftime I was fearfull that Mitchell would sit Bargs the rest of the game because of his poor shooting but he let him play which proved to be a smart move as Bargnani really got the ball rolling and made some huge shots for us down the stretch. As for the PG tandem of Calderon/Martin, I thought there was alot of room for improvement as Calderon didnt really have a good shooting night and his assist total was respectable but with starters minutes I expected more. Martin was kindof fun to watch as he just jacked up shots when he felt like it, I really dont see how he gives other players advice and when his time is called upon its the Martin Show! Anyways he played pretty well after his first 3 missed shots and it was good to see him getting some burn. We have Cleveland, Chicago and Memphis coming up next hopefully we can go 3-0 in the stretch.
