The Celtics announced today that rookie guard Gabe Pruitt is on his way to the D-League to join fellow rookie Brandon Wallace on the team's affiliate, Utah Flash:

QUOTE

The Boston Celtics announced today that they have assigned rookie guard Gabe Pruitt to their NBA Development League affiliate Utah Flash. Pruitt is the teams second assignment to the NBA Development League this season.
Pruitt was averaging 2.0 points and 0.5 assists in 3.0 minutes per game at the time of the assignment. Pruitt appeared in two games this season for the Celtics and was on the inactive list for six games. Pruitt appeared in six preseason games for the Celtics averaging 2.6 points while shooting .444 percent from the field. Pruitt averaged 5.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 22.4 minutes per game during the 2007 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

This is a good move by the organization. Gabe is not going to get any playing time with the team, and he needs to get his feet wet. A little game action down in Utah can't hurt, and it's a little easier on him with a fellow Celtics teammate down there with him in Brandon Wallace.
Pruitt, Wallace, and the Utah Flash make their debuts tomorrow (11/24/07) at 10:30 pm ET, as they take on former Celtic Kedrick Brown and the Anaheim Arsenal.
QUOTE (CelticKing)

Does this mean that we're going to sign someone?

Not necessarily. It could just mean that they know Gabe won't get any better by hanging on the inactive list with limited practice time. So, they figure he's going to benefit from getting consistent game action and practice time down in Utah with the Flash.
