QUOTE

Nenad Krstic won’t be getting many minutes over the next few games. The Nets have made a decision: have him work out individually to get into shape rather than play him. It’s all about winning now. “We’re going to give him very intense workouts, individual workouts, practice,” says Lawrence Frank. Once his body is in better shape,”then we’ll give him a taste during games”. It’s a blow to Krstic’s confidence, but he understands the priorities: “Right now, I really am not helping the team at all. They can do without me.”

Tough luck for a guy in a contract year.

I'm not sure the slow start will help the Nets sign him to a cheaper deal, I see both sides waiting another year to see what a 100% Krstic can do.

As long as there's no pain in the knee and its structurally sound...krstic will come around eventually.

Least he admits he knows he's playing bad. Easier for him to get better.

He needs to be in game shape as soon as possible, he is way too slow, and heavy.

Loose some weight, and be away from the night snack.

Thorn is not going to give Krstic a big contract unless he comes into shape better then before. If he's still playing timid by years end, no way he gets 60 mil or whatever.

Last year Krstic was playing out of his mind, then the injury came. I didn't get to see him play much last year or before his injury but is his game mostly finesse or athleticism or what?

well, let's see. He's not very strong, and is probably an average rebounder. Allegedly he has a pretty good vertical leap, but it takes him so long to get off the ground when attempting to dunk, that he often gets his shot blocked--he was probably among the league leaders in blocked shots against last year, and at the same time he's incapable of blocking shots himself. He's not particularly fast in getting down the court, and defensively he's average at best. He's probably an average passer for a big man. he's got three skills that I can identify. First, he has pretty soft hands and he goes a good job handling Kidd's passes, espcially in traffic. Second, he measures up real well against the yard stick. Third, he has an unbelievable shooting touch from, say, 12-25 feet and might be one of the top five to eight big men in the league at that distance. That's it.

Ah, yes. The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.
