Should the Patriots move Eugene Wilson to cornerback and start Artrell Hawkins, James Sanders, or possibly the rookie Brandon Meriweather? Should the Patriots replace Samuel with Chad Scott or Willie Andrews? Obviously, they are in a tough position. The secondary is going to be the weakest part of their defense. With so much money invested in the wide receivers, it seems like the Patriots neglected this position, as contract negotiation between the team and Samuel does not look good. Hopefully the Patriots can trade Samuel for a first-round pick, as they did with Branch because it does not seem likely that the two parties will ever reconcile.

Re: What should the Patriots do if they cannot re-... Brandon Meriweather will be best used at safety so keep him there. I think moving Eugene Wilson would be the best option. It does seem that Samuel doesn't want to play for New England this year unless he gets a new deal so that should be something interesting to watch. Seems like Lance Briggs gets most of the media's attention but I think Samuel could end up sitting out into the season too.
Re: What should the Patriots do if they cannot re-... Belichick wouldn't start Meriweather unless he really shows promise during training camp and preseason. He's either third or fourth on the safety depth chart and the Patriots will go with the most qualified player at the position. I don't think moving Wilson is the right idea. I believe the last time he played cornerback in a non-preaseason game was in college and he's really effective at free safety. Harrison may not remain healthy all season so moving Wilson doesn't seem like the safest option. I think the Patriots will go with Chad Scott opposite Ellis Hobbs. Perhaps Randall Gay, but Scott is a decent veteran despite his slow speed.
Re: What should the Patriots do if they cannot re-... Wouldn't it be ironic if the Patriots end up using Troy Brown more at cornerback than at receiver?
Re: What should the Patriots do if they cannot re-... try Welker there, that guy can do just about anything you ask of him
