QUOTE

The Nets are getting closer to having a full contingent of guards again, if Marcus Williams' MRI provides some positive news today.

The backup point guard, who had surgery to repair a cracked right foot eight weeks ago Wednesday, may be given clearance to practice sometime this week.

"He's been working every other day, so based on what we see on the (MRI), it will give us a better feel," said coach Lawrence Frank, who otherwise claimed there was no timetable. "Different times he feels good, other times he doesn't feel as well. We'll know a little more after he sees the doctor. Right now, he wouldn't be able to practice." -- Newark Star-Ledger

Based on that assessment, it seems like he's still anywhere from 4-8 weeks out from any significant contributions and getting into playing shape.
Sucks a lot.
On the other hand, Eddie Gill has been playing very well IMO. He was a key spark in the win in LA. Not as skilled as Marcus offensively nor does he have the same command of the ball, but nonetheless, he has been competant at running the point. I don't think Frank is giving him enough playing time considering Kidd's extended minutes.

He must pick a time to come back anyway, no matter how late it is. The sooner he comes back, the better for us.
You can'ttake Eddie Gill's one nice game show to ensure he will be that good all season long.
Adding Marcus to your roster, it would make your roster deeper, not kill your roster.
If you just don't like him, please make a call to Thorn, and demand him to trade him for Jacque Vaughn.

if we still had DA i would like to give marcus as much time as possible to fully recover, but since DA is out (whats his time table?) i wish marcus was here now. this injury sucked because marcus made solid strides in the summer and it seemed he was on a path for at least a solid start. even when marcus comes back it is going to take a while for him to get situated with the new talent we got.
i cannot wait for marcus to be at full speed and play with sean. hes basically playing with a more athletic version of boone on the offensive end. plus sean will cover up some of marcus' defense flaws. i really think marcus-sean combo can be really entertaining and give us a great jolt of energy/excitement off the bench.
