Obviously he's going to be rusty his first couple games so don't jump on the kid but looking at guys like Farmar, Lowry, Rondo.. all have improved tremendously this season. Marcus has the most natural talent between them. Looking at the pics, he's lost amazing weight this offseason, really looks trimmed. he has a year under his belt, what do you expect out of him?

I've somehow never expected him to be any more than an average starting point guard for an average team down the line. Certainly, he'll never fill Kidd's shoes and I just don't buy into that we can pencil him in as the Nets point of the future. Sure, he can help us as a key sub this year. Beyond that, I'm willing to be pleasantly suprised.

QUOTE (NetIncome)

I am not feeling good about this at all. I think it's January before he even steps on the court.

wtf. i thought he'd be practicing already,
Close thread, ban user.

8 2 and 4 in 14mpg just average. does he play defense? will he have a good chip on his shoulder or a bad one?
I think we'll see a few lineups with 2 PG's so I think he'll have some 16-20 point games here and there.
I am convinced Marcus Williams is the only worthy point guard to carry the torch that will be left by Jason Kidd.
I am not kidding and I am not crazy. I will bank the Nets future on this kid.

He should just stay out, because he's everyone's favorite player as long as he's not on the court.
My guess is that he will have flashes of brilliance in between all the horrible decision-making and non-existant defense.

I am on Marcus' side, he will have a good performance once he comes back.
He didn't play good defense, because he was too slow. While he is in a better shape, he can move quickly.
That would help him to improve his driving speed, and cross-over.
He will be a stud off the bench.
Ghoti, can you tell me which Nets you don't blame?

Right now he's still private 1st class. When he gets his game back (returning from injury) maybe he can rise in the ranks of point guards. I think it's gonna be a long time before we can say who he is, like 3-4 years, he's still a baby in the NBA.
That said, having 51 and Boone around can't hurt.
Why would anyone believe he will be in better shape when he retuns from months of inactivity?
It's going to take him some time to get back to the low level he was playing at at the end of last season.

Because it's just afoot surgery, not knees surgery.
And you judge a player by his rookie season, it's not fair at all.

Im hoping Marcus can be playing around 15-17 mins a game by this time next month...that way we keep kidd fresh for the postseason where we're gonna need him for 40+ mins in certain games. Personally I feel we are still offensively capable when Marcus is on the court...he's a better passer than either Darrell Armstrong or Eddie Gill and the offense runs best with him backing up Kidd.

I want him to be good.
If he comes back and plays well, I'll say so. I'll be giddy with joy.
Right now, my lasting memories of him are not good.
