The Associated Press has a story where they have a breif comment w/ Hank Steinbrenner, and how the Yankees are in the 1st phases of discussions for Johan Santana. He commented on who they want, and who the Yankees are willing to part with.
Might be looking at a 600+ Million off season. Even though I'm a huge Yankee fan that kind of disgusts me.
-Petey

That disgusts me too, but the Yankees will never win anything unless they upgrade their pitching staff, so I guess this might be worth it.

I'm even more disgusted by what we'll have to give up. Melky+Joba+Tabata seems like what they want, at the least.
Tabata is awesome, by the way. 30 HR, 35 SB, .300, Great fielder guy.
He'd be good enough to move Melky to left. (With Austin Jackson in Center).

Joba would probably generate more revenue. I think that's what they want.

That being said, I think Phil is better than Joba.

Of the pitching crop, Joba has shown the most.
I think the Twins are want Hughes as they know Joba (and Cano) are untouchable.
-Petey

They're not just talking to them. Redsox, Angels, Dodgers and Mets. It's all early stages. Johan also has a no trade clause.

I know that all will not be as good as Kazmir. But I can pray.
Prospects aren't the only thing I'm worrying about. If it was just prospects, I'd do it. But the payroll increase we'd take would be more than 20million/year. The affordability is a huge part in my thought process.
