Early reports this morning are that Redskins FS Sean Taylor died this morning from complications stemming from a gun shot wound he sustained yesterday during a break in at his home. I'm just shocked.

very sad news. i thought he was doing better from reports yesterday then im driving to work and heard he died. i was shocked. tragic

I had a sinking feeling all day yesterday that he wasn't going to make it.
This is just terrible. What a great talent.
He made some mistakes, but he was so young. He never got a chance to mature and become great.
RIP.

I heard about the shooting yesterday. Was it intentially aimed at him or was he an Unlucky Bi-Stander?
Either Way.
R.I.P

Unbelievable. So young, so talented.
I think he was a victim of a home invasion gone awry.
RIP Sean.

This is just what I've heard from various articles I've read and what ESPN has been reporting.
He was shot in his home, apparently him and his fiance were in the bathroom when they heard a ruckus in the living room, Sean went to grab a machete he kept near the bed for defense and just as he did that someone crashed through the bedroom door and fired 2 shots, one hitting him in the groin which damaged his femoral artery. Several media sources are reporting that someone broke into his house just 8 days prior to this and left a knife on his bed. To me, that makes this sound premeditated.
What I really do not understand is why with all that money you would not have a very sophisticated security system. In the past couple of years many pro athletes have had their homes broken into and if I remember correctly one was held hostage along with his family. Get a high quality alarm system and some dogs and maybe things like this can hopefully be averted in the future.

Yeh i would at least get some dogs. We have a rottweiller. He's a dozey idiot but the sight of him would frighten anyone. The thing is he is a family pet and would protect any of us.

According to a few reports his house has been broken into a few times recently. And you have to look at this way, he was only three years into a 7 year, 18 million dollar contract, so he wasn't even near the average of players his caliber are being paid.
He was just turning his life and his game around and will be sorely missed throughout the NFL community. My favorite player outside of NE, without a doubt. Gotta love the heart he played with.

I was absolutely shocked hearing this. One of the hardest hitting safeties ever. He will be missed!

R.I.P. Sean Taylor!

RIP. A damn shame for such a fine talent to go. He had his troubles in the past, but from what I understand having a daughter really grounded him. A shame.

Itwas very upsetting to me whenI heard he died. I don't understand how someone could take someone elses' life, especially when the person has a offspring as young as he did.

RIP

Shocking, it sounded like from reports yesterday afternoon that he had a good shot at making it. Then I heard this morning in the car he died, took me by surprise.
This was definitely pre-meditated and sounded like a hit more than a robbery gone awry. His house was broken into a week before and they left a knife on his pillow; nothing was missing in the house. I also heard the phone lines were cut when his girlfriend tried to call 9/11 on their house phone after he was shot. Also, the shooter didn't take anything from the house, he just busted into Sean Taylor's room, shot him, and ran out.
