No Need For Wholesale Changes

While acknowledging and understanding the fans' frustration, Scott Skiles and the players also dismissed the need for wholesale changes. If their confidence isn't defiant, it's at least deep-rooted.

"One hundred percent for sure I believe in this team," forward Andres Nocioni said in his inimitable English. "I believe every year we are getting much better. Last year, we did very well. We still can this year.

"I can understand where the fans are upset. If it's the opposite and I am the fan, I want to win. This is the reason I go to the court, watch the games and buy the [souvenir] shirt. But we just can't think about [fans' frustration]. We need to think about the team." -- Chicago Tribune

[*]Here is today's optimistic spin on the Bulls' miserable 2-10 start: In 2004, they bottomed out at 2-13 and went on to finish with 47 wins.

That also was with four rookies in the rotation and before this group of players had any track record of success.

"I can't really point at one thing back then (that turned things around)," Luol Deng said of his rookie season. "The only difference is back then we really didn't know how good we could be. Back then we just kept battling and kept trying to win games. We got on a run and played a lot better." -- Arlington Heights Daily Herald

[*]Asked if he planned any more lineup changes, Scott Skiles strongly suggested there would be none for tonight's return home against Atlanta.

"When I've changed the lineup in the past, it's generally for three reasons: We haven't been playing well as a team. Maybe somebody in the starting lineup is a little off his game. But the third reason is somebody off my bench has played well and given me a reason to do it," he said. -- Arlington Heights Daily Herald

That 47 win team also had Curry and Chandler and Antonio Davis.

Some fans just don't have enough confidence in this team to turn it around. The season isn't nearly over and they have a great opportunity to get back on track. A few wins and I bet they'll be back on track, so no worries for me.

^^^ It's not really that significant if they somehow beat up on teams later in the season to end up with a good record, as they have in the past few seasons. Some of us have been skeptical that the team as-built is much different than the Memphis teams that won lots of regular season games but didn't advance far in the playoffs. That is, we're still lacking post scoring, balanced offense, and a big guard who can play at both ends of the court. We're also missing a true superstar, which seems to be a key component of actual contenders and champions.
