Isiah: Green suits KG

QUOTE

Isiah Thomas was saying yesterday that he doesn’t believe he owns any green clothes. Despite that, he still thinks Kevin Garnett looks good in his new duds. Natural, even.
And the Knicks coach isn’t shocked at all by the 11-2 record of the Celtics, tonight’s opponent.
“Not really, because those three guys are that good,” said Thomas, referring to Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. “The thing that I’m probably the most surprised about, and it’s a pleasant surprise, is that now that I see Garnett in a Celtic uniform, I can’t imagine him being any place else. He seems to be a Celtic more so than a Timberwolf or anything else that he was in this league.
“I don’t think there’s another place that he could’ve went to that once he put on the Celtic green, he just looks like he fits and he really belongs. He embodies all the things that you think about in terms of Celtic tradition. It’s a perfect fit and I think most people, even myself looking at it at first blush, just never imagined him as a Celtic. But once he put on the uniform and you see him in the Celtic green and how intense and everything he is, he’s a Celtic.
“I’m glad the trade worked out for him personally and you always look forward to competing and playing against that type of team who’s playing that well. You definitely want to test yourself against them.”
That’s high praise from the former Pistons guard, who, when asked yesterday about a Boston-New York hoop rivalry, told reporters, “With me personally it’s always a rivalry against the Celtics. That’s ingrained in me.”
As for getting the old Celtics-Knicks thing going, Thomas said, “I think we need to build up a little history with this team. I know between (Celtics coach) DocRivers and myself, we’ve been rivals since high school. We’re friends in everything else. I was in his wedding. We’ve known each other for a long time. He always seems to be the one that, in high school, pros with Atlanta, he’s always been on a team we eventually had to get through.
“It’s funny now that he’s with the Celtics. I never thought he would be a Celtic.”
When it was suggested that the people beyond the top three would be deciding the game, Thomas again leaned on history.
“It’s funny,” he said. “The Celtics have always had a lack of depth. I remember when we were coming up, you had to beat (Robert) Parish, (Larry) Bird, (Kevin) McHale and those guys. You always said, ‘Boy, if we could ever get to Greg Kite, we’ll be OK.’ We never managed to get to Greg Kite. We always saw those three guys.”
When a New York-area reporter asked if Brian Scalabrine is the new Kite, Thomas replied, “Actually, Scalabrine’s a little bit better than Greg Kite.”
With the Knicks continuing to have their troubles, they and other teams may be looking to the Celts as a beacon of hope for the way they were able to get turned around so completely in one offseason.
“In this league, it’s really about perseverance,” Thomas said. “If you look back, Doc was supposed to be fired. (Director of basketball operations) Danny Ainge was supposed to be fired, and before you know it they’re sitting at the top of the league. You just have to keep grinding and keep your head down and keep pushing, because in a week things can change.”

isiah saying something intelligent?! hell hath frozen over hahaha...now lets pound his team into the ground tonight!!!

QUOTE (CelticBalla32)

Haha, Isiah... "Doc was supposed to be fired. Danny was supposed to be fired."
So were you.

Isiah has been fired from every job he has held - and will be fired from this one as well. If Dolan had any sense, Thomas bags should of been packed last night. Dolan however, is an idiot.

QUOTE (Downunderwonder)

Whos the bigger idiot? Isiah or Dolan for keeping him employed?

That's a very very tough one, but I'd have to go with Dolan.
