His agent said the Nets were interested in him, but beat reporters suggested the Nets wouldnt bid for him because they believed the Wiz would match anything up to the MLE. Then, he got caught on Taylor Circle in DC soliciting what he thought was a prostitute for a blow job. She was a cop. That hurt his value and he got less than what he thought he would get, less than his value, less in his first year than Magloire.

Still, I wish they had bid. On the other hand, don't he and Sean Williams play the same position. They are weeks apart in age as well.

    (a) Blatche had a couple of good games last week, but other than that, he has been pretty average . . . over his last three games, for instance, he is averaging less than six pointson 40% shooting and 5 rebounds in about 20 minutes per game.

([IMG] Other than his first-round picks, Rod Thorn doesn't like to invest in young, unproven players that may need some time to develop. Instead of focusing on Blatche, you could point to the Nets' lack of interest in players like James White, Alexander Johnson, etc. as well--not to mention Robert Hite. They're all indicative of the same mindset. It has nothing to do with "failing" or "succeeding" in the offseason. It's an overarching policy at this point: The Nets prefer signing veterans to one-year deals hoping to find the magic formula that will put the team over the top. You can agree with it or disagree with it, you can call the policy a "failure," but I don't think you can call their failure to sign a particular player a "failure."

© As shocking as it may sound, you can't sign a player unless he wants to be signed by you anyway.

    (d) I'm quite happy with Boone and Sean Williams in the frontcourt right now.

Spurs do the same thing, mostly signing veterans. Unfortunately, it actually works for them. They're just better at it, and they also attract better players with their measley championships. Pssht, who needs those anyways?

Boone in 10 minutes is shooting 33% from the field, averging 2 points 3 boards a game

Blatche in 20 minutes is shooting 50% from the field (25 from 3 not great but he can hit it) 8 points 5 boards 2 assints a steal and 2 blocks a game

(all numbers are rounded by the way)

^ to a point. I haven't really watched Blatche play so i can't really have an opinion on him. But I don't think Boone is playing well. He has good strides at the end of last season and i feel that he isn't playing as well as he should. I feel offensivly Boone is very weak, and his stides last year were only because the guard penetration. I felt that all Boone could do was get clean up buckets, and finish next to the rim when set up. Defensivly he was alright, but i haven't sseen much out of him this year. Last year his stats weren't great but he shot a good % and played well i felt. This year he isn't even shooting a good percentage.

Bring up the threads where you had foresight to say passing up Andray was a mistake. Till then, you can't blame Rod for not sigining an unproven guy. Otherwise we can also blame Rod for not getting in on Damien Wilkins early. It's stupid for anyone to see how well a player turned out and then blame the GM for not getting him. It's hit or miss and I don't even think the Wizards thought Andray would be as good for the stretch that he was for. So you really shouldn't speak on things you don't know.

I've been pissed we haven't gotten Andray or Hak the year before. What the hell? Ever since Derrick, we gotta hate on players from Syracuse?
