Namibia coach quits ahead of Nations Cup

QUOTE

WINDHOEK (AFP) - Ben Bamfuchile said Thursday he had quit as coach of shock 2008 African Nations Cup qualifiers Namibia. The 47-year-old Zambian cited "disrespectful and careless" behaviour by national football association officials and difficult working conditions as the reasons for his decision. Bamfuchile became an instant hero in September after Namibia snatched a 3-2 victory in Ethiopia to top a qualifying group ahead of more fancied Democratic Republic of Congo and Libya. It was only the second time the south western nation reached the finals of the biennial African football showpiece, which will be staged between January 20 and February 10 in Ghana. Namibia, rated no-hopers after being grouped with Ghana, Morocco and Guinea, are due to play a friendly against fellow qualifiers Senegal on January 13 in Dakar.
