Whoa is me. Whoa is my sig. Marco has gone from potential starting 2 guard to a guy who has lost his shot. Perhaps a stint with the Bakersfield Jam will get his shot and game back in a hurry.

Exactly what I said early on... Nelly talks up other players to encourage competition. Mainly it lit a fire under Pietrus and didn't let Monta's success get to his head.

Nellie has given him every opportunity to succeed. Belinelli has been treated better than Pietrus, Monta, POB, and Al, he got plenty of playing time at the beginning of the season to prove himself. Dude just flat out hasn't hit shots. He better get it straightened out quick, its no ones fault but his own.

He'll be fine. Nellie's always tough on rookies. Nellie has definately given Marco his chances this season, and so far he's looked a bit lost. But he'll get it straightened out. He's probably fatigued from the Italian league + the new transition to the ultra-rugged NBA schedule. He needs to add some muscle to defend better. As far as his shot, that's just a matter of time. He's a young kid who's used to being the go-to option. It's going to take some time but he'll come around. Besides, right now GS doesn't need him to come around. They're rolling with the "vets." Let him take his time to develop. It's still a terrific draft pick IMO. The whole off-season was perfect IMO -- trade, picks, signings, and all. Go Warriors.

I personally believe he's thinking too much while playing. When I watched him in Euroleague or during the championships, he seemed to have such a natural feel for the game. Now he shows hesitancy when pulling the trigger and looks lost a lot of the time when he doesn't have the ball.

Agree completely..the shots just aren't falling now. He's too good a shooter for that to continue. I think Nelson will do for him what he did for Mully: Design plays that create a little space for him to get his shot off. But obviously, they weren't going to spend a heck of alot of time doing that this preseason.

Its definitely mental, he could probably come out of it if we played him 15 mpg for a few weeks but we just can't afford to do that, especially with all of the effective guards we have. Hes shooting it extremely flat right now, we know hes much better than this but being a new player, getting sporadic playing time to shoot his way out of the slump, he'll struggle for a while. I have liked that passing I've seen from him though, I wouldn't say he can play PG by any means but he reminds me of Jack or Ginobili because hes a SG who has above average court vision and makes some nifty passes. Hopefully he'll get the shot going eventually because if he does, he'll definitely get some PT. He has the advantage of Nellie having a huge hard on for him, while most young players are immediately in Nellie's dog house (POB, Wright, Pietrus, Harrington, Ellis is in and out). If he can score he'll definitely play.

Sounds like what Sloan does to Giricek in Utah.......when he first got to Utah, he was playing out of his mind. Now Sloan plays Giricek off and on now, like he just can't wait to get rid of him.

I was pumped about seeing Belinelli with this team coming into the year, hearing so much about him and watching his summer league games. Then he's hit a wall that he can't figure out how to get around. The one thing I noticed during the Summer League was that he wasn't that athletic compared to NBA players, so I wonder if he might be looking over his shoulder on shots, that could take a tole on him mentally too when he's shooting.

I think Belinelli is very athetic. He's pretty athletic even compared to other nba players so much that he might even win a dunk contest. The guy can leap high for his size and he's got decent foot quickness. But that's not his problem. It's his strength and lateral quickness. While he's not Pietrus type of quick, at least he's basketball smart and decently quick with the ball in hand. He's the most quick in the way he shoots the ball and comes off screens. But for Belinelli's defense, he really needs to be stronger and quicker on clamping down on ballhandlers and fighting through screens.

Belinelli just isn't very strong right now and that's probably going to affect his ability to match up because he needs quickness and strength mismatch so he doesn't find himself a defensive liabiltiy or a guy that can't stay on the ball if he gets bumped a little. I think he'll be suitable if he can own a jumpshot like Peja Stojakavic or Ray Allen because that will give him room to drive or space the floor for others to cut in. But if that shot isn't there... he seems kind of useless unless he's aiding the fast break because he's not a good rebounder or good inside scorer like Azubuike or Monta Ellis is. We definitely could be looking at one of them super role players like a lower shooting Brent Barry which is both a good and bad thing. We definitely want more out of that shooting guard spot, though. But I could take Belinelli streak shots if it provides a smoother offense than Pietrus. I'm sure Belinelli wouldn't be that much of a momentum killer when it comes to missed open shots or turnovers.

Belinelli will get his chance... I mean look at Brandan Wright. He also has a chance to be very good, but its not his time now. Even Monta Ellis probably wasn't that reliable his rookie year. These guys will probably give you super numbers one game and then force the issue the next. The rest of the players that get majority minutes tend to play more under control as a team compared to any of our rooks. But that's not to say that I wouldn't prefer Bell and Wright to play over our veterans. Except for Croshere. I actually kind of like his game if we're really committed to small ball and we use him to fake out centers and power forwards.
