QUOTE

Van Gundy Downplays Fast Start

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy is once again trying to play down the Magic's fast start to the season, saying Orlando still needs to show improvement in several areas.

He is quick to point out that all four of the Magic's losses this season have come against elite teams -- San Antonio, Detroit and Phoenix (twice).

Said Van Gundy: "I don't think we're even close to where we can be or where we need to be. The number of defensive breakdowns (against the Lakers) was bad, we didn't rebound and we didn't run the ball with much energy. We're winning some games where we're not playing well. I don't want our record to obscure the fact that we're still a team in the building phase. People may look at our record and think we're ready to win big. But we're still growing." -- Florida Today

The team needs a slasher who can break down defenses, a wingman like RJ, Iggy, etc. These guys are a dime a dozen and finding one shouldn't be too hard.

Ive watched a about half a dozen games so far and the thing I notice is that they give up a ton of points....of course, they have scored even more points in those games, but they need to play much better D to be an elite team
