<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>tAC Milan&rsquo;s highly-rated French star Yoann Gourcuff is apparently top of Arsene Wenger&rsquo;s wish-list (along with apparently another 50-60 others) and could be about to become the subject of a &pound;20m bid either in January or more likely in the summer (various).

This rumour surfaced last summer as the 21-year-old former Rennes player was not getting a good run in Carlo Ancelotti&rsquo;s team. However, this season he has seen far more action and seems less likely to move to north London anytime soon. I think that like many other French footballers, Gourcuff has become linked with a French manager who obviously likes to purchase talented French players. Hence it isn&rsquo;t hard for a bored journo to put two and two together and make five.

That said, Gourcuff looks like a good player who has a bright future, but that doesn&rsquo;t necessarily mean this has to happen at the Emirates. Take note, tabloids!

Sticking with Arsenal and on to another outrageous story linking want-away midfielder Gilberto Silva with both Spurs and Liverpool (various).

The Brazilian has been unfortunate to have lost his place after a good season last term and has simply been replaced by an in-form Matthieu Flamini. Now, given Gilberto&rsquo;s age, he quite rightly demands first-team football. Many Italian teams have also been mentioned as possible destinations for the midfielder, including Inter Milan and Juventus.

Juande Ramos is reported to be a big fan and you can see how a player like Silva would be exactly what Tottenham need. However, fans of both clubs would not be too pleased so I think we can rule out that move straight away.

Liverpool might be a different proposition and, given their supposed financial constraints, a move for 31-year-old Gilberto - who would clearly not cost a kings ransom - is possible, mainly because I am sure that Arsene would notwant to impede any potential move.</div></p>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>It has been reported, probably incorrectly, that Arsenal are now leading the chase for long-time Chelsea target Royston Drenthe (Daily Express) and, coincidentally, the Stamford Bridge outfit are about to sign Nicklas Bendtner from Arsene Wenger&rsquo;s side.</div></p>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Given Arsenal&rsquo;s extra financial clout derived from increased capacity and income at the Emirates it now seems that they are being forced into bidding over the odds for players they want to bring in during the transfer window. We at Sportingo subscribe to the theory that you can't believe all you read in the papers &ndash; if you did then Arsenal must be close to assembling the largest squad in footballing history! But here's the latest lip-smackin' rumours ...

Apparently, Arsenal scouts watching PSV Eindhoven's Ibrahim Afellay over the weekend were so impressed that they are considering smashing their transfer record to purchase the 21-year-old Dutch international with Moroccan roots (Algemeen Dagblad and Daily Telegraph). A bidding war is now on the cards as Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also keen on the creative midfielder who has helped his side to three successive Dutch league titles.

A price tag of &pound;20m seems a little steep, but then in today&rsquo;s market that could be considered a bargain, and given the cash rich nature of the north London club PSV will be keen to milk their young talent for as much as possible</div></p>

big news for the gunners. And the fact that we have the cash could mean some good transfers. But i doubt we'd get Drenthe. Gourcuff is a possibility but it depends on how Keen AC Milan are to keep him. Afellay is repeatedly linked with Arsenal and Man Utd but with Arsenal's new found Wealth (Without Foreign investment might i just say) We are in a stronger position then United. But i don't think We'd buy anyone untill the end of the season. Then the Team that wins it (Most likely Arsenal, Or Man Utd) Will be in a strong position to sign Afellay.</p>

    Hey Max,</p>

Gourcuff, I seriously doubt it, since Milan have expressed their desire to invest in young playersrather than old farts, they want to rejuvenate their team, plus 20M is alot for a player who still needs polishing, the potential is there, but I dont think wenger would take the bait. I think Afellay already signed a contract extension at PSV a couple days ago, so thats out of the question now. Judging from our performances in the last 2 games (Villa and newcastle) wedesperately need a pretty gooddefensive midfielder like Masch, reo-coker. I really feel thats has been exposed as our weakspot and our last 2 games, the opposition has been able to exploit that.</p>

Yeh but i reckon Flamini/ GIlberto can cope with that Untill Denilson gets a regular spot. But i do think we need a defender/Midfielder to Bolster our team.</p>

If Yohann doesn't get out of Milan soon his young career will be over before it could even take off.</p>
