Do not be surprised the Nets don't talk to the Mavs about Kidd, if I was Thorn, I would look into the possibility of trading Maglorie andCollins for Erick Dampier and Ager . The trade works well for both Mavs and the Nets, Mavs get rid of a 3yr contract, yes we do gain a 3yr contract but Dampier is a more than capable shot blocker and scorer than Collins and Maglorie. Imagine, Dampier and Sean Williams defending the basket.</p> <table class="breakdowntable" style="width: 334px; height: 211px" width="334"> <tbody> <tr> <th scope="col" colspan="2">Players</th> </tr> <tr> <td class="photo"></td> <td><span class="playername">Maurice Ager</span> 6-5 SG from Michigan State 2.1 ppg, 0.6 rpg, 0.4 apg in 8.7 minutes</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="photo"></td> <td class="even"><span class="playername">Erick Dampier</span> 6-11 C from Mississippi State 3.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 0.5 apg in 15.8 minutes</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <table class="breakdowntable" style="width: 331px; height: 204px" width="331"> <tbody> <tr> <th scope="col" colspan="2">Outgoing Players</th> </tr> <tr> <td class="photo"></td> <td><span class="playername">Jamaal Magloire</span> 6-11 C from Kentucky 2.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 0.6 apg in 15.2 minutes</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="photo"></td> <td class="even"><span class="playername">Jason Collins</span> 7-0 C from Stanford 1.3 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 19.6 minutes</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </p> <div class="clearfloat"></div>
Other than Dampiers ugly contract, we gain a rebounder who rebounds all the time and also get a much needed extra SG who is talented for being so down in the depth.</p>
The reason why the Mavs would do this deal is that Dampier is expensive and Avery Johnsonis happy with the increasing play of Diop and Brass. By doing this trade they get two short term contracts, Maglorie expires at the end of the season and Collins ends next season. Collins can still be used a backup center, defensively his still solid and does the little things all coaches love.</p>
<span class="playername">Jason Collins</span> 7-0 C from Stanford 1.3 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 19.6 minutes</p> He does all the little things that help a team win. Except score, rebound, or pass.</p> </p>

Collins needs to be a backup C. Having him start for us 4 years now makes the Nets look like a joke. Even if he does bring those "little things" from a pure psychological factor you aren't intimidating anybody.</p>
