The Astros have had significant discussions with the Orioles about shortstop Miguel Tejada, but the two sides are not close to a deal, according to major-league sources.

The Astros apparently believed a trade was possible Wednesday night, telling at least two other clubs that they were on the verge of a major deal. It is not clear whether their focus was Tejada.

Astros officials said Thursday morning that nothing was imminent, suggesting perhaps that the talks had faded. Other sources also indicated that the discussions were not in an advanced phase

If it happens Houston's looking alright for next year.

Rafael Palmero claimed that he was given steroids by Miggy, but it's never been confirmed.

And an aging SS is not what Houston needs right now. They should be getting younger, not the opposite.

Burke could be special and that pitcher is going to have to be a blue-chip prospect.

They need a new ownerLOL. Peter Angelos and Drayton McClain attempting to come together on a trade? That's laughable. Two of the most meddlesome, counterproductive owners in the business.

Burke? He's been around for a while and hasn'tdone anything. Tejada's trade value isn't very high because of his subpar performance lately, and he would only be hitting 6th (at best) if he joined the Astros.
