From Fred Kerber:

QUOTE

Despite the denials from Kidd and the support of Thorn, team sources continued to maintain Kidd's absence from Wednesday's 100-93 loss to the Knicks was a premeditated move to show his unhappiness. One source told The Post Wednesday that Kidd was “on strike" and did not back off that stance yesterday. Kidd denied all published reports.

Dave D. calls Kidd a liar and questions his commitment to the Nets:

QUOTE

Kidd wasn't upset with the widespread doubt about his condition. But he took his digs at the speculation, which was rooted in a perceived unhappiness about the team refusing to extend his contract -- an event that even people in the organization believe inspired his grim assessment of the team in Salt Lake City nearly three weeks ago.
Kidd's credibility, however, took a minor hit on that issue: He admitted yesterday that extension talks are ongoing, after denying it in Detroit this past Sunday.

QUOTE

Still, like most players, Kidd has been accused of having a wandering eye, it is well documented that he asked for a trade in 2004. And unlike most players, he has a curious habit of discussing all those stars that he would like to play with someday -- from Tim Duncan to Kevin Garnett to Kobe Bryant to the latest, LeBron James.
So there's little wonder why his commitment to his team is often questioned, especially inside the organization.

I don't think either of these guys believe Kidd. The entire Nets organization has banded together to refute these charges, which is what they should do whether they are true or not.
What the fans believe is up to us. I still think where there's smoke, there's fire.
We'll see how this plays out, but I feel a little bit foolish rooting for this guy right now.
A die-hard fan should never have to feel that way.

Pete Vescey weighs in:

QUOTE

It's unimaginable to think an upstanding citizen of such stainless character would betray his team.

Ouch!

Don't worry, no matter what happends, we still have a guy who isSteve Nash alike - Marcus Williams.
We are ready for Marcus.

He's being intentionally vague.
Vescey thinks of himself as funny.

I see what you are saying - that Vescey is pointing out that Kidd has a rep as a shady guy, it's easy for someone to sell a rumor like this, and he doesn't think it's true.
But he leaves it open to interpretation in case that take is wrong. That way no one can pin him down on his opinion.
He's a columnist. He shouldn't be so afraid of taking a stand.

I sort of had the feeling that we'd find a way to lose this game. Although Kidd may have been staging a protest, there's as much evidence that L. and Thorn decided to handicap the game as a show of mercy/respect/class. There has been alot of politicking between the Knicks/Nets, the last thing we'd want to do is to kick our potential fanbase when they're down. Just a thought.

I still don't get that even if this allegation were true, why would a "team source" want to go public with it and make the situation more troublesome for the Nets? Thorn should find out who the source was and deal with them so it doesn't happen again. And by not happen again I mean:

Nomam, I love it, and I would add....wouldn't Kidd demand that Thorn handle the situation this way?....I would be beyond pissed if I were Kidd (ok, well, unless its all true)
