<span class="sommario">Dirk Kuyt wants to win help Liverpool to win a trophy this season so that he can dedicate it to the memory of his father, who passed away in the summer.</span></p>

The Dutch striker told Liverpool's official website about the trauma of losing his dad Gerrit to cancer earlier this year and explained that he wanted to honour him with some silverware.

Kuyt senior was a regular at his son's games and the former Feyenoord forward admitted that it was hard to keep going at times without him.

"It's hard to be without him because he was my biggest supporter and now he's not here any more," Kuyt explained.

"He watched me playing games since I was five &ndash; I don't have to say how important he was for me. We were really big football fans together and it's a big loss.

"I just have to try to keep going. Sometimes it's hard but I just have to keep playing football and winning trophies &ndash; that would make him proud.

"If we won a trophy this year it would also be for him &ndash; that would be nice."</div></p>
