DENVER (Ticker) -- The Denver Broncos took advantage of thestruggling Kansas City Chiefs to put together their strongestperformance of the season.

Jay Cutler threw four touchdown passes and running back SelvinYoung ran for 156 yards as the Broncos routed the Chiefs, 41-7,on Sunday.

Denver (6-7) snapped a two-game losing streak and remained twogames behind San Diego in the AFC West.

The Broncos wasted no time getting on the scoreboard on theiropening possession. Using a 50-yard run by Young, they drove 77yards in four plays, finishing with a 21-yard touchdown passfrom Cutler to Brandon Stokley.

Denver added another touchdown on its next possession, whenTravis Henry drove into the end zone from 1 yard out to make it14-0.

With the Chiefs (4-9) down two touchdowns at the start of thesecond quarter, Kansas City started to gamble.

The Chiefs drove 63 yards in 15 plays, scoring on BrodieCroyle's a 15-yard pass to tight Tony Gonzalez. On the drive, the Chiefs had three fourth-down conversions.

Cutler responded to the Chiefs' score by marching Denver 71yards for another touchdown. His 8-yard TD strike to BrandonMarshall made it 21-7.

Following a Kansas City punt, the Broncos increased their marginto 24-7 on Jason Elam's 37-yard field goal as time expired inthe first half.

After another field goal by Elam, the Broncos defense got theirfirst turnover of the game, when Champ Bailey interceptedCroyle's pass.

That set up Cutler's 48-yard TD pass Daniel Graham that pushedthe lead to 34-7.

The Broncos' defense caused another turnover on the nextpossession when Elvis Dumervil sacked Croyle, causing him tofumble. Broncos defensive end Tim Crowder fell on it and theBroncos took over at the Kansas City 17-yard line.

Three plays later, it was a 41-7 game when Cutler threw hisfourth touchdown pass of the day - a 13-yard toss to Marshall

Croyle struggled throughout, completing only 15-of 29 for 132yards with an interception and a fumble.

Chiefs rookie running back Kolby Smith, starting in the place ofan injured Larry Johnson, ran for only 12 yards on 13 carries.

DENVER (Ticker) - The Denver Broncos' offense finally broke out.It might still be too late to get them into the playoffs.

Jay Cutler threw a career-high four touchdown passes and runningback Selvin Young rushed for 156 yards as the Broncos routedthe Kansas City Chiefs, 41-7, on Sunday.

Denver (6-7) snapped a two-game losing streak but remained twogames behind San Diego in the AFC West.

The Chargers stayed in control of the division by rallying for a23-17 overtime victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

"Coming into the game, I was hoping for a complete game,"Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said. "I thought we did that todayon offense, defense and special teams. It was a total teameffort out there today."

The Broncos wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, driving 77yards on four plays to grab a 7-0 lead on Cutler's 21-yardtouchdown to Brandon Stokley just 1:40 into the contest.

Cutler was sharp throughout, completing 20-of-27 passes for 244yards with no interceptions.

"He made some great plays against the defense," Shanahan added."From a stat standpoint, definitely his best game this year."

Cutler was surprised how easily the Broncos dominated theChiefs, who suffered their sixth straight loss. Denveroutgained Kansas City by more than a three-to-one margin.

"You don't get many of these in the NFL," Cutler said. "Teamsare just so tough that it is hard to get victories like this."

On its second possession, Denver marched 84 yards on seven playsto take a 14-0 lead on Travis Henry's 1-yard run.

It was Henry's first game since winning a successful appeal of adrug test on Tuesday that would have resulted in a one-yearsuspension.

"Our defense put our offense in a bad way," Kansas City coachHerm Edwards said. "We tried to blitz them but didn't getthere. We can't fall behind like we did because we cannot justdrop back and pass."

Down two touchdowns at the start of the second quarter, theChiefs started to gamble. They converted three fourth downsbefore Brodie Croyle tossed a 15-yard TD pass to tight end TonyGonzalez 6:09 left in the half.

But that was the lone bright spot for the Chiefs as Croylestruggled throughout, completing only 15-of 29 for 132 yardswith an interception and two fumbles.

"I'm frustrated," Croyle said. "We only had that one drive. Iput our defense in a bad situation."

Instead of only trailing by seven at the intermission, theChiefs gave up 10 points in the final two minutes of the half.

Cutler tossed an 8-yard TD strike to Brandon Marshall with 1:55left and Jason Elam kicked a 37-yard field as time expired madeit 24-7 at the intermission.

In the second half, the Broncos' defense got into the act, converting a pair of turnovers into two touchdowns.

While harassing Croyle, Denver held the Chiefs to just 16 yardsrushing on 17 carries.

"We haven't played this well since maybe the first two weeks ofthe year," Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey said. "We know whatwe are capable of and we have to do it."

Lineman Elvis Dumervil keyed the Broncos' defensive effort withthree sacks of Croyle and a forced fumble that led to atouchdown.

"It's a good feeling," Dumervil said. "We had moreopportunities than we did last week (against Oakland) to get tothe quarterback. We were getting good push up front."

"He's got quickness, he's tough and he knocked out two defensiveends," Shanahan said of Dumervil. "He has a lot of confidenceand that will just keep on growing."
