"They came out with a lot more energy than we did," Hornetsforward David West said. "They were able to crash the basket inthe third and get some offensive rebounds. They took advantageand got themselves some extra shots and got back into the game.Once you let a team back in as talented as they are withDurant, we knew we would be in for a fight."

Durant's huge 3-pointer with 24 seconds to go drew the Sonicswithin 86-85. But Bobby Jackson made a pair of free throws andDavid West split two from the line to rebuild a four-point edge.

"We fought our way back, but we just couldn't put out," saidDurant, who scored 23 points. "I credit New Orleans forknocking down shots and for playing defense. I think it was agood game overall. We've just go to learn how to put bothhalves together."

Once again Seattle came within one on Earl Watson's shot fromthe arc, and still had a chance to win it after Jannero Pargomissed two foul shots with six seconds left.

"We weren't ready to play," Sonics coach P.J. Carlesimo said."Whatever we were at the half, we were lucky to be where wewere. Our defense was a disgrace. I don't know where we were,we just weren't ready to play."

Chris Wilcox had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Kurt Thomascontributed 12 and 10 for the Sonics, who held a 56-43 advantageon the glass.
