Guti: We Can Be Champions

QUOTE

Real Madrid playmaker Guti is eminently confident that his side can lift a second successive Liga title - providing that they carry on as they've started...
Guti (pictured) told a press conference today that his side could well end the season with a second consecutive Liga title. "If we countinue this way we will win for sure," he declared to the official Real Madrid website. "We have to keep proving this. This is a very competitive League in which anyone can defeat us and in which you can have a bad streak anytime. "Many teams could win the competition. The last stretch of the campaign will be very tight and the title will be at stake in the last few games." In the meantime, though, comes the Champions League, and a vital tie against Lazio at the Bernabeu. "It will be a 'final' because if we don't win or if we earn a negative result we may be out of the Champions Legaue," warned the 31-year-old. "A club as this one can't afford that to happen. "Winning and going through as group leaders are the two important things to achieve in the game against Lazio. "We haven't had the chance of having the home advantage in recent years. I hope we do this year. We are convinced of being able to win if we play as we have so far." Guti failed to make the sirst XI for the match with Athletic Bilbao last night, but he insists that he and the other nearly-men are happy with their place in the squad. "We have a large squad and we can all play," he said. "I welcome rotations. It's important to have great players in order to be strong on a daily basis. We've tried to have that for a very long time now; a large squad so no one notices the differences despite who plays. "Arjen Robben? I think he's had a bad streak with injuries that has been detrimental to him. He is adapting well to us, the city and the club. He needs more time. "The team is playing well and winning, so it is hard to find a spot as a starter. I'm sure he will have minutes in which to gain confidence and prove he can play for Real Madrid."
