From Realgm.com:

QUOTE

The Sonics granted the New Jersey Nets permission Sunday to speak with former general manager Rick Sund about the Nets' vacant GM position.

Sund, who is a consultant with the Sonics after being fired in June, is in the final year of his contract. The Nets' job became open when Ed Stefanski left to become GM of the Philadelphia 76ers .

When Sund was relieved of his duties by now-departed vice president Lenny Wilkens, he remained with the organization but did not want to step on the toes of new management with any suggestions. So he has essentially remained out of the spotlight, except for an appearance on Fox Sports Northwest as a Sonics analyst last week.

Wow. What the hell? Rick Sund? This better just be talking. And not anything serious. I don't want Rick Sund in New Jersey.

    Why what's his decision history?

That drafting record is mixed- there's certainly an eye for catching 2nd round steals there. The glaring error was taking Sene 10th, but remember the Nets were thinking of trading their 2 picks to do exactly that.

He's not that bad at drafting. Any other team would have picked those same players and made the same mistake.

He is good for finding gems in the second round though like lukewarmplay stated.

Seems Thorn just wants a personnel guy, scout type. don't know with his years in the league that Sund would want to do that. The only good thing about it is that you may have the early jump when Thorn decides to step down.

Apparently the main requirement for this job is to be follicly challenged. So here is my guess as who ends up being the Nets next GM
