According to Scott Souza, Kendrick Perkins (foot) and Scot Pollard (back pains) have picked up minor injuries and are questionable for tomorrow's game against Sacramento.

The Celtics came back from a day of rest on Monday with a couple of key big guys limping into HealthPoint this morning. Scot Pollard woke up with back pain and Kendrick Perkins did not practice because of a sore foot.

Coach Doc Rivers said it was the big toe of Perkins that was bothering him and “that is a concern.” He added that “There is a very good chance we will be without Perk and Scot tomorrow (vs. Sacramento.)”

If Perkins cannot go, Kevin Garnett will switch over to center and Glen Davis may well get his first career start at power foward. Brian Scalabrine would appear the other top option as Rivers would seemingly like to keep Posey coming off the bench to back up both frontcourt positions.

“We will go small - we have no choice,” Rivers said. “When you play a team like Sacramento you don’t want to go small. … Baby right now is probably a better fit, but right now I don’t know (who will start).”

On a semi-comical note, here's how Perk hurt his foot:

QUOTE

"Man, that's a weird story," Perkins said after practice Tuesday. "I was asleep. I guess whoever put my bed together didn't put it together right when I moved, so one side of my bed fell. My bed was tilted, so I got out of my bed to go push down on the other side.

"And when I was about getting ready to push down on the other side, the headboard started coming in. So I tried to push the headboard back so it wouldn't fall over. My foot was under the bed and the other side of the bed fell on my foot."

X-rays were negative, but Perkins watched practice Tuesday and was limited to riding a bike and other non-basketball activities. He is averaging 7.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

It'll be interesting to see Doc's rotations tomorrow. Hopefully, Big Baby steps up and continues to play well with extended minutes, especially alongside Garnett. It'll also be interesting to see how much run Leon Powe, who was expected to be the primary backup big man roughly two months ago, gets.

We should start Baby and bring Perkins from the bench. [IMG]
