Vince's Dunking

Yesterday I saw Vince throw up a floater in the fourth from a jkidd feed in whih he could have thrown down a monterous dunk. Made me shake my head not only cause he missed.

Mark and Ian mentioned itin one of the games that Vince would have dunked it, even last year.

The most prolific dunker of all time just suddenly dissappeared.

Could it be he's just not in good enough shape to get up? could it be due to injuries? or do u think it's just because he's not driving enough.

He did 360's and all last year too, but it doesnt look like the same player know.

Dont say that he is getting old because that's an excuse, kobe can still dunk with the best of them, and him Vince are around the same age.

Naw, it ain't none of that. The Nets stink Vince knows they aren't going anywhere and he's gonna dog it more and more, just like he did in T.O.

    wait and see.

It's starting to look more and more like Carter played well in a contract year.

His play in my opinion has changed due to the offensive system the nets are running. They r screens for VC and RJ that r so predictable that the defenses react to it fairly quickly. That's why RJ is having a great year because they r more suited to his style of play, and people like Vince and Boki are sufferring cause of it.

Ne ways this is regarding his dunking.......

His knees can't take all the dunks anymore. He wears like an actual brace on both knees so I assume that's why we haven't seen much Old 'VC.

I said this last year when we resigned him. VC was signed to sell tickets based on his ability to do all of the amazing things he is very rapidly becoming unable to do.

Not only will that hurt ticket sales, it apparently also hurts wins.

Vince - the above mentioned skills = some guy getting booed for taking crappy jumpshots while his sub .500 team loses its 8000th in a row. Good luck with those ticket sales, boys.

Yeah I second the knee theory. At this stage in his career he's already made a name for himself, so there's no real need to do anything super crazy since a basket is a basket is 2 points.

Not saying I agree with that mentality though :-(

Vince was resigned because he is a very good player who has helped the Nets get into the playoffs since he has been with them even through all the injuries and struggles they have had.

And it's so painfully obvious the problems with this team at the moment are in the front court and bench production.

When a leaper loses it, it happens almost overnight. it's happened fast for Carter. Less than 2 years ago he was serving up facials on Mourning. He simply can't elevate like he used to. It's injuries and age and minutes played catching up with him. How many guys in the game are high flyers after 31 or so? Not many. It has nothing to do with contracts, or his willingness. He can't even finish alley oops that well any more. I think it's surprising to him as well. He struggles to keep up with Kidd and RJ on fast breaks. He's crafty, so he'll still get his points, but the ups are eroding. It's really sad, and it hurts the Nets offense greatly. No easy buckets.

    1) He's older, and it's obvious he's lost a lot of his elevation so it's going to be rare to see those highlight reel dunks that he used to have

    2) Kobe and Vince aren't "the same age" Kobe is 28 I believe and Vince is 30.

At this point in our season, I don't think the Toronto-Vince-trolls are any different than the New Jersey-Vince-trolls; you are all haters!

Well despite Vince dunking less, which I guess reduces attendence at Meadowlands, but he is still shooting 46.3% FG%. Kobe is shooting 46.0% FG% to compare.

it's age and injuries...last year he had tendinitis because he played the 2nd most minutes of any nba player at 29 years old...and he had to carry the scoring load for the offensively-challenged nets the last 3 years...look at chris bosh already injury-prone at age 23!
