QUOTE (lakerman34)

The Oxford Press stated that Jason Kidd has asked for a trade, and he's very high on LA. They said that Kidd would be sent to LA in a package for Chris Mihm, Kwame Brown, and Sasha Vujacic. Obviously, EVERY Laker fan would say "HELL YEAH" to this, but I am very confused as the contracts do not match up. We are still $6M short. A trade that DOES work is Kwame Brown, LO, and Mihm for Kidd, Boone, and Malik Allen. I do NOT like this trade because we give up 3 of our bigs and the following lineup does not appeal to me: PG Jason Kidd SG Kobe Bryant SF Luke Walton PF Ronny Turiaf C Andrew Bynum
I don't know how much longer Andrew Bynum can keep up his game, Luke Walton has been struggling, and Ronny Turiaf is a turnover machine. To be honest, I'm all for trading LO, but we NEED to keep Kwame. Though his offense, for lack of a better term, sucks, his interior defense has been great for our ballclub. Also, thats $9M off the books this summer. WE ARE SO CLOSE! WITH KIDD IN PURPLE AND GOLD PLAYING NEXT TO MAMBA, WE CAN COMPETE W/ ANYONE!

But what will happen to fisher? (with the exception that farmar is our sparkplug off the bench) Will he be a 'locker - room' type leader?

QUOTE (lakerman34)

When Kobe was 20 he averaged around 10 PPG, and was considered to be a future star. Now he's a top 3 talent of all time. Bynum is devoted and WANTS to get better BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE HAS POTENTIAL.
Bynum is still a kid, and he's very mature at that, but will only continue to mature even more. He IS working under the best center of all time, who says himself that he thinks Bynum continues to improve everyday and can become a top tier center in this league. If you go to any GM in the league that's rebuilding and ask him would you prefer Bynum or Wright of Williams, they (w/ maybe the exception of Orlando) all will say Bynum. Don't get me wrong, I think Wright is going to be excellent, but as of right now, his future is nowhere near as bright as Bynum's.

Kobe was 18 or 19 when he averaged 10ppg, the next year he averaged 19 a game...

I call b.s. on this article as well. Who is the Oxnard Press to break a story like this? The deal is completely lopsided for the Lakers if all they give up are those players.
I do think Kidd could be traded at some point, this year or the offseason depending on how NJ does up until February. If the Nets are healthy and still struggling they probably consider blowing it up and getting the best deal out there to begin the rebuild process.
The only reason I could see the Nets take a horrible deal back for Kidd is to finish with a terrible record and improve their chances in the NBA lottery. If they traded Kidd for Odom, they would still be good enough to make the playoffs, but probably get bounced in the 1st round. They might as well hold onto Kidd who gives them a better chance at pulling off an upset in the post season.
