VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- Rust was certainly nota factor for Roberto Luongo on Tuesday night.

After missing the past four games with a rib contusion, Luongomade 32 saves to register his fifth shutout of the season andlead the Vancouver Canucks to a 5-0 triumph over the New JerseyDevils.

Before sustaining the injury, Luongo was playing as well as anyother goaltender in the NHL. The 28-year-old posted a 4-1-1record with three shutouts over his previous six starts, yielding just five goals over that stretch.

Luongo picked up right where he left off on Tuesday, stopping 11shots in the first period, 15 in the second and five in thethird to record his 37th career shutout.

It was also Luongo's second consecutive shutout versus theDevils after losing 13 of his first 16 career meetings againstthem. Luongo made 22 saves on January 27, 2006 in a 4-0 victoryover New Jersey as a member of the Florida Panthers.

Captain Markus Naslund scored two goals and defenseman AaronMiller tallied for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign forVancouver, which went 1-2-1 during Luongo's absence.

After Henrik Sedin won the faceoff cleanly, Miller fired aone-timer past Devils netminder Martin Brodeur to open thescoring with his first goal in over four years with 2:16 left inthe opening session. His last tally came on November 27, 2003as a member of the Los Angeles Kings.

Ryan Kesler and Trevor Linden both scored in the first threeminutes of the second period to give the Canucks a 3-0 edge.

Kesler notched his ninth goal of the season just 69 ticks intothe session after he blocked Devils blue-liner Andy Greene'sshot and raced down the ice uncontested. Brodeur blocked thefirst attempt, but Kesler managed to reach back with his stickand poke the puck into the net.

Naslund gave the Canucks a 4-0 lead at 8:51 of the middlesession when he took a pass from Daniel Sedin and buried a shotinto the open net.

The Swedish captain then secured his second multi-goalperformance of the season when he tallied at 7:44 of the thirdperiod to give Vancouver a 5-0 advantage. Naslund, who had notscored a goal in his past nine games, registered a hat trick onNovember 21 against the Minnesota Wild.

Henrik Sedin matched his season high with three assists and hisbrother Daniel added two more for the Canucks, who are tied withthe Wild atop the Northwest Division.

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner, Brodeur, who was 11-1-1 inhis previous 13 games, stopped just 19 of the 24 shots he facedfor New Jersey.
