QUOTE (Bill Simmons)

Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro for Bargnani, Rasho Nesterovic's expiring deal, an unprotected 2008 No. 1 and $3 million.

The Grizzlies save a boatload of money and rebuild around kids (Bargnani, Gay, Mike Conley Jr., Gay, Mike Miller, Kyle Lowry and Darko Milicic) and cap space galore for their inevitable relocation to wherever the hell they're moving some day. And not only does Toronto jump a level in the East, it reunites Gasol and Navarro with Spanish countrymen Calderon and Jorge Garbajosa. Bryan Colangelo wanted to build the ultimate FIBA team -- well, what's better than getting the nucleus of the 2007 Spanish team that won the World Championships, even if one of them is out for the year (Garbajosa)? Tell me which team doesn't make that trade. You can't. That's why I'm the Picasso of the NBA Trade Machine.

I'm not against it. While I like Bargnani, I was never really for picking him, I wanted a down low player. I kind of wanted Rudy Gay, but that didn't happen. I mean, Gasol would be great, but Navarro...what would we do with Ford?

Navarro isn't really a point guard, just more of a shooter like Juan Dixon.

We'd be in good shape if we kept both guards, we'd just be thin up front. We'd probably want to make another trade for a big man.

It's not the worst trade but now isn't the time to trade Mago, IMHO.

I've said all along that Aldridge should have been the #1 pick (Chicago was also stupid to trade Aldridge's rights at #2). I've never been overly impressed with Bargnani. The next Dirk he is not.

Why has his minutes all of the sudden dropped like crazy, though? I know he was hurt, but he went from 30+ a night as the second scoring option to playing behind Kris Humphries.

^ He's still rehabbing his knee, plus his confidence seems to be at an all-time low at the moment.

I would be truly impressed with BC if he actually did this deal... Most GMs would have too much pride to trade a player that they truly believed in to be something great! Now... If AB goes, does Geraldini go too??

I've still got a lot of faith in Andrea. I've watched him since the beginning and I really don't buy into the "bust" label that people have been prematurely throwing around lately. He's going to be a star.

That said, I would consider this trade. It's a matter of a potential star versus a player that already is one. Bosh and Gasol would be arguably the toughest duo to stop in the East and we get a very good young shooting guard in Navarro. Its probably just a pipedream though.

Thats a pretty good trade, I think if Gasol would come over here that would help Bosh alot and I think Gasol being on a new team with his fellow Spanish teamates might make him play harder. However im a big backer of Bargnani and wanted the Raptors to draft him ever since I heard about him and that we were interested, I dont like how soon people jump on the Bargnani is a bust trend when he has gone through alot in the past year with his appendix surgery then playing for Italy during the summer and now continuous injuries sidetracking his season. I wouldnt give Memphis a 1st round pick however and having a mini Spanish team could mean the possibilty of injury as our entire roster will play for their national team every summer.

I think it's nuts to trade Gasol for Bargnani, period.

Memphis would demand Calderon and Bargiani.

How can you make demands when it is your player who wants out?
