No! Actually, I don't really mind Cuse that much. I just hate how they play that sh*tty zone all the time. That one year with John Wallace they were awesome though, when he hit that running 3 at the top of the key in the tourney to win.
I'm not a Syracuse fan, but peg I was hoping you could tell me a little bit about Donte Greene. Is he as good as scouting reports and analysts say? I haven't gotten a chance to watch Syracuse yet this season, so I need some info. What are his strengths, weaknesses? What do you think of his upside and future in the NBA? Those questions go to peg or anyone else that has seen Greene play.

I loved Big East basketball as a kid growing up in the Northeast, and I could never stand Georgetown and John Thompson. Pearl Washington was one exciting player to watch especially for a little kid. He was awesome!

Too bad he went to the blackhole of the NBA, the early 90's Clippers.

He can create for himself, off the dribble on the perimeter, be a spot up shooter, post up down low (which he doesn't do much when compared to on the perimeter), and he can get to the free throw line (even tho he would rather shoot. With that said, the biggest negative I've seen from him, is that when his shooting is off, it throws his whole game off offensively. Of course, he still finds other ways to impact the game - but with Syracuse, he's been consistently the best scorer, so when he's off, it's tough finding someone to score (although lately, Flynn and Arinze have been stepping up). He's an okay creator at times, but not someone you want to rely on for long stretches. Defensively, he never gives up. He's really athletic and has long arms, so he can get a couple blocks here and there. He's great in the zone, but of course, all quick, athletic players with long arms are good at that (just look at Nichols and Warrick). I've seen quite a few plays where, offensively, he gets a turnover or misses a shot, sometimes right near the basket...and then when the other team brings it down expecting an easy layup, Greene comes out of nowhere to get the block. For me, that shows alot about his mindset. He's a good rebounder too - physical when need be, but most of the time, he just knows where to be to get the rebound. And more on the best part of the game - his shooting, when he's on fire, it's hard to stop him. When he's shooting his best, Syracuse is really unstoppable. He sometimes gets the whole team going with his shooting. Lately, a big problem has been his fouls...as the best offensive player on Syracuse, he's depended on alot, and is expected on the floor for the whole game. Sometimes, though, he picks up alot of fouls because of either freshman mistakes he makes, or freshman mistakes his teammates make. He'll have to get used to this. About whether he's as good as scouts say - well, I'd say yes. His future in the NBA looks good too. To me, he looks like a natural small forward, but he can play power forward as well for a whole game, as he's done before. He has the potential to become very good in the NBA, because of his skills and build - he's 6'11 and 225 lbs, can play either forward position (and probably the center position for stretches as well), he's got great length, he's a good shooter, he's quick, and he can rebound. I'm sure many teams in the NBA could find a player like him useful.

*raises hand* Andy Rautins was our hope for next great Canadian basketball star and being close to the border, he got love from this area. I'm a big DC fan and Gerry McNamara as well. Too bad that talent didn't turn into the NBA. Hakim is my overall favourite though and it's sad to see him not fit with the Grizzlies this year after such a breakout season last year.

That guy threw the BEST alley-oop pass in the history of basketball. Coleman and Seikaly threw down more oops than anyone before or since. They would have like six a game. It's tough on the opponent when 30,000 people are constantly cheering alley-oops the whole game.
The General is a god. Really, the greatest natural point guard to ever step foot in the Dome. How could I forget about him... He broke quite a few records back in the day, I recall going to a game or two to see him play...it was so great. Have you seen Johnny Flynn play yet? When him, Donte, Paul, and Arinze are all playin good, you see about 4-5 alley oops in any given game. And Rautins, wow...I'm so disappointed he got injured. I wish I could watch him play this season, we could really use him. He has such a good work ethic, and he's such a great shooter. Gerry Mac, on the other hand...he's a good player, and he played his ass off when he first got here. But I've lost quite alot of respect for him. After a while, in his Junior and Senior seasons I believe, he just stopped giving a shit. He'd smoke like crazy (even with his asthma) and just not give a shit in practice, because he knew he was in good with Boeheim. That's the biggest problem with Boeheim, the fact that he trusts some players too much and others not enough. Rautins has ten times the work ethic of MacNamara, and that's disappointing to see, because Gerry was so talented.
