Warriors' Hudson might not play again <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>MINNEAPOLIS - Troy Hudson has been sidelined because of a recurrence of pain in his left hip, and Warriors Coach Don Nelson believes it could be the end of the point guard's career. "I think Troy's probably done. I don't think he'll play again," Nelson said Wednesday. "I'm serious. It's unfortunate, but he has a hip problem, and I haven't heard a second opinion, but it doesn't look good for him." Hudson joined the Warriors during the off-season as a free agent from the Minnesota Timberwolves. He appeared in only nine of the Warriors' first 26 games because of the troublesome hip, which has collected fluid and shows sign of excessive wear and tear. "Right now, we're talking maybe four to six weeks off, and then check again, but he has some (bone) spurs on his hip and arthritic conditions, and it's just not a positive thing," Nelson said. Hudson had a flare-up of pain in his hip during the first week of the regular season. After sitting out 12 games for rest and treatment, he tried to play through what pain remained. That comeback lasted two weeks before the pain grew too intense to continue. "After you wake up day after day limping a different way, you start thinking, 'Man, I've got to make sure this is right before I'll be walking funny at 35,' " Hudson said. Hudson has not played since Dec. 12 against Portland. He will see a specialist in New York this week and plans to see another one in Colorado in the near future, although an appointment is not yet set. "I'm positive," Hudson said. "I think somebody is going to tell me something I want to hear." Hudson said an MRI exam taken six weeks ago revealed bone spurs in both hips, but only the left side has been hurting. If Hudson needs surgery, he would be out 12 to 18 months. "A guy who's 31, (with) 11 years in the league, can't really take a year and a half off," Hudson said. "You would basically have to say, 'OK, my career could be over.' A lot of teams wouldn't take a chance on a guy who was 33, who had a hip surgery, who'd been out a year and a half." And if Hudson is finished as an NBA player, he'll meet that fate with equanimity. "I've had a pretty good career," Hudson said. "If it had to end today, I'd be happy with it. (I played) 11 years in the NBA, when they told me I would never play in the NBA, so it's a great feeling just to make it this far."</div>
Hate to wish any wrong on anybody but from a pure basketball sense the Warriors play better when he's not on the floor. THud simply shot too much.
I agree that his play didn't really help the team but the W's do need to add someone to replace him as the primary ball handler off the bench. I checked some d-league stats and Andre Barrett is sveraging over 9 assists/game for bakersfield. Is that the same guy from Texas Tech or A&M? Is he even a point guard, I thought I remembered him as a forward in college? Since he is on the Warriors affiliate can the Warriors call him up at any time like in baseball? It would be really nice to find another Azu or Barnes from out of the blue.
Troy Hudson is just not a good player. The guy only cares about shooting and hes not even good at it, I rather listen to him rap than watch him play basketball.

It's too bad that Boykins is so damn expensive, I'd love to see him coming off the bench here.
So where did Boykins end up going? Europe or Continental Basketball? It'd be nice to have him even though he's a defensive liability. It sucks about Thud, but he'll be taken care of with all the money he's made. I didn't like his game much. He lacks the things that other combo guards have that he doesn't like defense or playmake ability. He definitely wasn't afraid to shoot, which is both good and bad. He seemed to want to be on the Warriors which was a good thing. Now for possible free agents. I would definitely like to have either of these guys: #1 Terence Kinsey - Good shooter, attacks the basket, athletic, an nba rookie of the month last year, Can allow Bellinelli to play some 3rd string point while Kinsey plays the swing position #2 Ruben Patterson - Veteran, Defensive guy, rebounder, scorer, can pass it some, Could play multiple spots for us #3 Jackie Butler - A PF/C project with toughness on the glass. He could really thrive if his role is made simple. May not be that good because of questionable defensive effort and raw offensive footwork. But the upside is good. If Kelenna is unable to play due to injury and Belinelli isn't ready to contribute, I think the best bet would to add another athletic shooter. So in my mind that would be Kinsey. For backup point, I would rather try to find a trade somewhere. If we could somehow convert Pietrus into another player like a point guard...
I think Boykins is still an unclaimed free agent. It's a blessing in disguise Hudson won't play anymore. This puts pressure on Mullin to bring some help in.
T-Hud's having a very bad year. First he sold like five of his rap albums. I can sell more than that to my family and most of them don't like rap.
What do you think about trying to get Kirk Hinrich? With Monta at SG, I'd want another PG with some size and Hinrich has that. Chicago, I would imagine, is open to making a move and they can't really expect to get that much for him right now;although I don't think he's really as bad as he's played this year.

The Bulls need someone who can score in the post, which is exactly what the Warriors need. Would you give up Wright for him?

I don't think we need to bring in another crappy 3rd string PG with Monta playing a much better floor game and Belinelli starting to play 5-10 mpg as a PG. To be honest, I would be freaking ecstatic if we got Ruben Patterson. He can't shoot worth a damn but hes another guy who can defend the 1-4, brings toughness, energy, rebounding, hes a veteran and reliable, gets to the rim and the FT line. He'd be a great addition to our bench. We have enough 3 pt shooters with Al, Jack, Barnes, Azu all very solid and Belinelli getting spot minutes as 3rd string PG. We need more consistency off the bench and Patterson would bring that, hes a vet and consistent. Kinsey has more all around skills but from what I've heard the guy is trash. Apparently hes a scrub, but lit up the W's (I know, crazy right?) last year which is why GS fans seem to be high on him. He seems liek a decent player but I don't think Nellie would play him over Pietrus and he'd only take minutes from Beli. Jackie Butler is intriguing. A wide body, athletic with a lot of potential. Hes a bit fat to be a Nellie ball player but he wouldn't play this year anyway so hes got a while to get in shape. He'd be a nice replacement as our end-of-the-bench-goon-project-center after POB walks in the offseason. He'd be a nice addition as an investment for the future but he wouldn't contribute this year. I wouldn't mind picking him up at all. Ideally Mully will cut Hudson, sign Patterson, who will take Pietrus' place in the rotation, and salvage Pietrus for anything of value.
Good call on Ruben Patterson. He's the perfect garbage man for the Warriors team and would be a great backup for SJax. He had a career year in Denver playing in their uptempo style and never complained about getting enough shots playing alongside AI and Melo.

He played well for the Clips in limited minutes and still got cut. His last game he was one of the leading scorers if not the leading one.

It had to do with money and nothing else.

Sterling isn't paying for any non-guaranteed contracts, especially when hes got a losing team out there. Not to mention they're loaded with wing players and probably want to get Thornton more playing time. He can definitely still play, like Shape said he had consecutive career years from 05-07, was contributing to the Clips before he got cut.
