Here's my latest blog entry: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><div align="center"></div> The Miami Heat dropped another one at home on Thursday night, this time an overtime loss to New Jersey. The Heat are now 7-19 and need to finish the season 34-22 just to end with a .500 record. To top it off, you all know what just happened to Alonzo Mourning on Wednesday in Atlanta. "Zo" was their emotional leader and energizer; now his career is more than likely over after suffering a right patellar tear in what Alonzo himself planned as his final season in the NBA. But you know what? This may not necessarily even be a bad thing (the rough season, not the Mourning injury). Should the Heat pull off a miraculous run to somehow squeeze into the playoff picture, they'd make the postseason and wouldn't get anywhere when it's all said and done. Then, they'd lose their first round draft pick to Minnesota, via the Ricky Davis trade. Where does that leave them? As mediocre and direction-free as ever. Now, if they continue to stink up the joint and miss the playoffs, they get to keep their lottery pick since it is lottery protected in 2008. They'd then add another young star to put alongside Dwyane Wade for the next 10-12 years and they'd have a direction to build with. Not to mention, they have over $20 million coming off the books after this season, which is huge considering the jaw-dropping depth of the 2008 free agent class. They'd draw interest with the location, Dwyane Wade, and his new young sidekick - and Miami is back in business as one of the most feared teams in the East. Hang in there, Heat fans. This is a blessing in disguise.</div> Direct Link to Post (feel free to comment) Direct Link to Blog
