    GSP: Hughes is world's best

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>GEORGES ST-PIERRE has called Matt Hughes the best welterweight in the world ahead of the pair's clash at UFC 79.

The two men square up for their third meeting inside the Octagon in Las Vegas on December 29.

And French-Canadian St-Pierre was full of praise for the man he beat at UFC 65 last year.

He said: "I'm fighting the best welterweight in the world - Matt Hughes.

"He's sharper than ever, he's better than he's ever been and I truly believe it's not the last time that he's going to be around or the last time we'll be fighting each other.

"I fought him twice before - he beat me once, I beat him once and we're both different fighters than we were last time."

St-Pierre, 26, claims he has worked hard to re-focus on his game after Matt Serra defeated him for the welterweight title in April.

He added: "I made a mistake against Serra. I let my personal life get into my job - it was the first and last time that it's going to happen, I can guarantee that.

    "I have a Plan A, a Plan B and a Plan C for this fight.

"That's how I always approach my fights but if you play your cards, you don't show your hand, so I won't talk about my game plan.

"I've never been so pumped up for a fight, and once I get through this I want to take my revenge against Matt Serra."</div>

Everybody keeps predicting that this fight won't be like their last... because Hughes will go for the take-down and avoid standing with GSP... well, everybody said that Rich Franklin will avoid the clinch and whatever against Anderson Silva, and the result was nearly identical. They said Chuck Liddell had changed since the last time he fought Rampage, and the result was even worse for him.

Then again, if Heath Herring can almost knock out Big Nog in their third go-around, who knows what can happen?

So you're predicting that Pierre will win?

Hughes is hungry and will beat the crap out of GSP and win in the first 2 minutes.

I'm not predicting that St. Pierre will win, but St. Pierre will definitely win.

If Hughes looses the fight, do you think it'll be his last or will he come back to fight Serra?

Only if GSP goes on to lose to Serra afterwards. Unless it's for a title I don't see Hughes fighting Serra.

I don't think Hughes will continue his career otherwise. He doesn't have anything to prove by fighting guys like Fitch or Koscheck.

This fight can go either way like all MMA fights. I don't know if Hughes added anything to his game to adjust to GSP's success against him. Both these guys are skilled and whoever loses focus first and makes a mistake is going to get caught in a submission or KO'd.

I don't think Hughes will retire win or lose. He has a competitive nature and he likes the spotlight. He might initially retire, but I think the right fight or right money could get him back in the ring.

Hughes v. Koz would be an awesome fight. Those two match-up well.
