Do you think the Rockets should end the Yao-TMac era? Magic said it's just not working with these two. They haven't been able to get out of the first round and when they are on the court together the ball stops moving. I know injuries have plagued the Rockets since TMac joined the team and a lot of their inconsistency is a direct result of those major injuries. However, is it time for the Rockets to re-write the blueprint and deal one of these players? Do the Rockets trade Yao since he would bring the most back? Do they get what they can for TMac and rebuild around Yao? Is Yao young enough to go through another rebuild?
Yao is the guy to keep if for no other reason than his marketing power. Trade TMac back to the East so you don't have the revenge factor and commit to a rebuilding effort.
Why would you even consider to trade Yao? He has no problem with being in Houston, and he's a good big man. Those are hard to come by. They should trade T-Mac and one of their 10 scoring guards for a real distributor.

At this point in his career I think the Rockets could get close to equal value back for Yao. He's still young, he's marketable and he isn't declining. His numbers have improved every season. The question becomes what could Yao net you in return? What would another franchise be willing to give up for him? If you could swap Yao for Greg Oden and fillers would you do it? If you could swap Yao for Durant and fillers would you do it? If the Rockets traded TMac instead would they get enough back to win with Yao or would Yao be put in a similar position KG was in when the TWolves blew up their WCF team by not bringing Spree and Cassell back?

An injured young player who could posssibly never recover right, and another young player whose game hasn't exactly translated into the pro's...Not sure about that. Maybe Yao for Aldridge and another few promising young Blazers. The only thing I'd want back if I was Houston is a young talented big man, such as someone like, well, Aldridge.

If the Rockets offered TMac for Aldridge they would hear a loud laugh followed by a dial tone. If they offered Yao there would actually be a discussion and I wouldn't blame Portland for taking that deal.
It doesn't matter that you can get more for Yao than TMac. The question is which player can you build a championship team around.

However, the answer is also no to the question of can you build a championship around TMac and what you get back for Yao. The Rockets are just fundamentally flawed. The Rockets are also fundamentally handicaped by their GM.
trade she mac for some talent and draft picks....her time has ran up in Houston...Keep Yao and get a couple good players that can penetrate the hole and close out games.........unlike she-mac.

I still think the Rockets can get right back in the West and will make a run at some point in the second half of the season. They just need to stay afloat and not dip too far under the .500 mark.
Well I probably wouldn't break them up. Sure they haven't made it past the first round the last few years, but from what I remember they've been game 7s and really tight series. I think the game 7s were Mavs, Suns, and Jazz. Who were all considered elite teams in a deeply talented Western Conference. The Rockets last year were probably better than any Eastern Conference team, Detroit would have given a good fight, and I think the Rockets would probably have pushed the Suns, Mavs, or Spurs to at least 6, probably 7 games if they played them.

Shane Bonzi Skip James Francis If one above the rim player can be brought in for two or three of these guys it needs to happen. Athletic big or Sf in that order. Hayes isn't on the list because I don't think anybody would take him, Novak and Deke are the same. It is a real shame Skip is still Starting PG on this team. Skip doesn't create shots for anybody, ball handler not a pg, and he has no offense to compensate. Ricky boy looks the most rediculous because he is playing an attacking style with the best above the rim finisher sitting on the bench in K.Snyder. Who is this below the rim WNBA layup artist starting five going to beat in a 7 game series? WHy start C.Hayes and Skip with their Offensive inabilities after seeing that it didn't work last year, but running a more Offensive style with them is smart? This good ole boy makes the last one look like a genius. I may eat my words if the wins picks up, but to anybody watching the games, does it look like the players will get better. Lets go D.Morey, you have two attention getting all stars that are willing to pass and all these low flyers on the recieving end. Its the NBA man, somebody tell Les A. that he's just pissing fans off letting the second GM prolong the same problem at PG and F for so long.

He didn't exactly work out... So, maybe what you need more is an intelligent big man who can pass, defend, grab rebounds and make a shot. And a point guard who can distribute the ball correctly and actually knock down a shot. It'd also be nice if Shane Battier got out of his funk. Gotta admit, I'm surprised Adelman is working out. I guess I wasn't really thinking rationally when I said he'd be great for this team. Maybe he's just not the right coach for this team, or maybe he just doesn't have the right personnel.

The Rockets aren't even going to make the playoffs this year. Hell, they are two games below .500 for Petes sake! This season is over...but I'll still watch them for awhile longer just in case a miricle happens, but I'm not holding my breath.
Well, I don't think we'd be so bad as to not make the playoffs. Teams like New Orleans and Portland are too young to be expected to keep up their winning percentages till the end of the season. That said, we have a lot of tweaking to do to be able to at least be a threat in the playoffs. Some consistency would be very nice too.
