So, I'm determined to find a movie that will scare a friend of mine. She brags about how nothing really has a lasting effect on her and they just startle her. I've always been in love with the horror genre, so this kinda annoyed me for some reason. What movies did you guys find most scary/disturbing? Keep in mind that being disgusted or grossed out isn't the same as being scared.
The Hills Have Eyes (the new version...I haven't watched the original yet) is pretty messed up. I remember going to see it and I told my friend "It's like a zombie movie". Then there were so many times during the movie where she was like "Oh my god! Did you know it was goign tobe like this!?!" while covering her eyes.
I liked that movie, although I was the only one who did. Didn't find it scary though. There was this one movie I watched a while ago. It took place in an insane asylum and had an absolutely crazy twist ending. Wish I could remember the name. EDIT: I was thinking of Session 9. That was a cool movie.
Yea, the acting was pretty weak now that I think of it. And the danger of showing a movie like that is if they don't like or get the twist it ends up being a waste of time.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre's pretty good with that. Hm...horror movies..The Shining...all I could think of for now.
Session 9 was weird to say the least. I just saw Hostile for the first time. Made me sick to my stomach. Although for kicks I felt like singing: 'Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it in dew, cover it in chocolate and a miracle or two? The candyman can cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good' for kicks.
I love the Candyman aka Tony Battie. Hostile sucked. Nothing really grosses me out (surprising, huh?), so I was like "this movie blows".
I thought the worst part was when the guy got drilled in the knee. The part where Yoko Ono got her eye socket torched and then eyeball cut off was too fake to be taken seriously (too much pus)

Those crazy ten minutes when the Dad is burning alive and 2 people get blown away and the sick thing they do to that 16 year old girl, proper crazy stuff. Also have you seen the second one. Not as good if i'm honest.

I watched The Grudge on my computer at night with headphones on and all the lights out. I got goosebumps in some parts. Alien is pretty suspensful and will make you jump, but because it's sci-fi you won't be scared afterwards. The Blair Witch Project is freaky Session 9 was pretty freaky too. I'm not sure if it's ment to feel low budget or not but I think it added to the atmosphere IMO. Hostel was a bore IMO and not that great.
The Others with Nicole Kidman Stir of Echoes with Kevin Bacon Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer <-- i've heard this scary but haven't had the opp to catch it... Psycho - the original Rosemary's Baby The Omen - the original Sixth Sense - one of my pers favs. Mmmm all i could think of...of the top of my head that haven't been mentioned yet...
