Vince Carter has been playing well lately, in spite of ankle problems…and he is averaging 21.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 4.5 apg, a little less than he did last year. The problem is that the Nets are 11-15 and trying to find something to get them back in contention. Marc Stein quotes the “GM grapevine” as saying the Nets would rather move Carter than Jefferson or Kidd, but his new contract makes it difficult.

two years too late. No one is going to take Carter. I see New Jersey is finally seeing the truth. If their sole purpose of signing Carter was to have a star when they moved to Brooklyn was stupid. They are expected to make this move in 2010 by that time Carter will be going on 33. Plus Vince popularity is not really healthy.

He is not really the highlight machine. Nike cancel his signature shoes due to poor sales. His Jersey is not actually flying off the sales.

this should have been done a while ago

I don't know how much to believe that, but with that being said...I don't know how much they could get for him.

Thorn wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't looking for what kind of return his players can get him. It's nothing personal or a reflection of how VC's played for us but i'm sure Thorn would like to turn his contract into something more manageable as well as beneficial to our win total. Whether he'll be able to will be a true test of his ability to get somehow figure out a way of getting our unwanted players traded because that deal is no drop in the ocean.

VC to the Clippers for Maggette, and Tim Thomas.

The Clippers need another swing and they want to keep brand.

    Kidd/RJ/Maggette/Sean/Boone

it was in the issue of kicks this year.

The offspring of Slam magazine. The question was can any superstar carry a shoe the way Jordan once did?

Lebron is shoes are more known for the commercials instead of the shoe.

Reebok who gave Allen Iverson a life time contract have used him in other ways instead of just advertising his own shoe.

More recently is Adidas recently ad "it takes five" Instead of just focusing on one star as they were doing with T-mac (which wasn't helping either) they went to focus on all of their stars and new addition Dwight Howard.

Ben Wallace is with Steph line of shoes.

I can't type everything from memory but go to www.slamonline.com should still be there.

I think there gonna have problems getting anything for Vince. There is a limited market for a guy like Carter...off the top of my head maybe chicago, cleveland, maybe new york...that's about it.

There both overpaid...most of this league is...I think the man problem though is that while there both overpaid RJ will still be playing at a relatively high level at the end of his contract while Carter will be what 34 or 35? I think age is the biggest issue.

As for Gordon...I actually would love him on this team, he is an excellent shooter and would help stretch defenses...I think Thorn would want Selfosha too though.

As long as they send him to a good team, I don't give a f**k. Wherever vince goes, that's the team i'll be watching.

hopefully we can get rid of vince and get anything positive back.

what scares me is what vince will look like in years 3 and 4 of this contract. its scary to watch him now, i dont want to see him in 3 or 4 years. it would be different if vince was a human highlight reel and was filling up the arena, but he has fallen rather quickly.

if we could get capspace from vince that would be great, but im not sure if ratner is going to allow vince to be traded. someone has to be the face of brooklyn.

vince is a nice guy and i try to root for him because he is a nice guy and a net, but he just pisses me off way too many times. plus if we can trade vince and we continue to stink i would then not mind trading kidd since carter is gone. one thing i do not want is for kidd to be traded and we keep carter. i dont want to be stuck with him and his contract...which is what every other team should be thinking too.

im sure if vince is traded he will play well like he did here in NJ when he arrived, but we will be better off if we can move him.

maybe our buddy Stefanski can give us something for vince!! c'mon, ed help your friends out!!!

As do I. Maybe we'll get someone who actually cares about winning. [IMG]

I really don't see why any team would want him. No one showed in interest during the offseason, so why now? Perhaps the Clippers, but if Thorn doesn't make the right deal then you can expect Kidd to protest.

Kidd is a PG, Marbury is a PG, Marion is a SF/PF, Pierce is a SF, Francis is a PG, Bibby is a PG, Lamar Odom is a SF, Rashard Lewis is a SF.

The only SG on this list are AI, Allen and Redd...AI is overpaid. Allen is a Reggie Miller type player as his game is based off his ability to shoot the ball at an amazing percentage and he is worth it. Redd may be overpaid.

Also the term overpaid can be used to describe paying a player off of prior numbers when they are aging (Vince is what almost 31 years old..) as there numbers are in the begining of a decline.

I have no idea what they could get back for him, or who would want him for that matter.
